The sad part about judicial elections today is that Wisconsin is not an outlier. It’s just the latest data point in a trend toward more and more money trying to buy court decisions.

There isn’t a perfect way to pick judges. But elections like these aren’t the best option.

In 1974, Johnson Co. voted overwhelmingly (40,930 -14,518) to institute the merit selection system for its district judges. 10 years later, it was 64,418 - 39,721 to retain the merit system. And in 2008, the same result. The tally - 109,723 to 57,624. No on SCR 1611. #ksleg
