Back on whatever the hell this app is these days to say I wrote a piece about Star Trek for @tribunemagazine and so I guess this means I’ll stop going on about how great Star Trek is at the pub etc.
Star Trek envisioned a world beyond capitalism, racism and oppression where technology is harnessed to end all forms of exploitation and injustice – its lessons remain as relevant as ever.

Returning to this haunted arena to say I don’t use this anymore and it doesn’t really look like anyone else does either but if you’re still out there and want to keep in touch I’m on Substack: https://t.co/00SqtE3LA7 👋
“The strikes analyzed by The Times did not appear to be targeting underground infrastructure. Two of the most severe strikes hit upper floors of the maternity ward.”
‘We call on our governments to demand an immediate ceasefire and the unimpeded admission of humanitarian aid into Gaza.’

Unlike many classic works of sci-fi, “Star Trek” offered an optimistic vision of humanity’s future — one where democracy triumphs, exploitation is ended, and everyone’s material needs are met.

@Tom_Gann We’ve been mostly focused on housing in Luton because there are some experienced Acorn members in the group and because we agreed it was the biggest issue locally – tbh we could exist without EiE now I reckon but they were key to the group starting up and bringing ppl together
@Tom_Gann EiE national seem to be focused mostly on industrial action but it was a good thing imo that they empowered a lot of community groups in places that were political deserts. I think focusing on local matters can be rly effective but there’s definitely a big picture void
@lakefieldmoscow Caveat is it’s only as intelligent as its input. It rarely challenges or finds holes, so you have to be able to find holes in its logic (or yours, as the input), but I found it was better than just thinking through ideas myself
@lakefieldmoscow I tried it out early on mainly to test its limits creatively and like you say it’s not ‘intelligent’ BUT because it often just repeats what you say back to you in a different way I found it was good for thinking through ideas – ie, a rhetorical tool
