Ruto launched the Emali–Matiliku road project 10 months ago with promises of progress. But the numbers tell a different story.
Of the 5.7 kilometres from Emali to Nduundune, 4.1 kilometres had already been completed under former Governor Kivutha Kibwana.
That means the current administration has added just 1.6 kilometres in 10 months.
Phase One was supposed to cover 20 kilometres. At this pace, motorists may have to wait through another cycle of political promises and campaign launches before the remaining 14.3 kilometres are completed.
A road should not become a campaign prop. Communities need infrastructure delivered, not repeatedly relaunched.
The people of Makueni deserve better.
When Kalonzo Musyoka takes over, we hope the Emali–Matiliku road will finally move at the speed that development demands.
BREAKING: Fighting is intensifying in northern Ethiopia as federal forces clash with Tigrayan forces and allied armed groups in Tigray and neighbouring Afar and Amhara regions.
The renewed fighting has already displaced civilians and disrupted essential services, while government forces are advancing towards Mekelle, Tigray’s regional capital.
The situation has also raised fears of a wider regional conflict, particularly amid deteriorating relations between Ethiopia and Eritrea. Ethiopia has accused Eritrea of supporting opposition forces, a claim Asmara denies.
The renewed conflict threatens the fragile peace that ended Ethiopia’s devastating 2020–2022 war.
Civilians once again face the greatest risk as fighting spreads and humanitarian access becomes increasingly difficult.

Our Ugandan comrades are watching in confusion, wondering why Kenyans and Zimbabweans have suddenly united following the deaths of Wicknell Chivayo, his wife Lucy Muteke and the four other occupants of the helicopter.
They are equally curious about how they can join this unexpected brotherhood celebrations, and more importantly, what Chivayo’s death benefit them. 😂🤣
I have always felt the Portugal national team all along didn't want Ronaldo to shine. They envy him. They believe he is too proud. Whether true or not true he is proud, that attitude is pure malice/wickedness.
