According to Bloomberg, the Republic of Somaliland has offered the United States the opportunity to construct a naval base on its coast near the Bab al-Mandab Strait between the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, as well as a critical rare earth-minerals deal, in exchange for its recognition as an independent country from Somalia. This comes amidst a push by the President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi, for closer relations with Washington and the Trump Administration, who currently consider Somaliland as part of Somalia.

Following their announcement of aerial-superiority now over Western Iran all the way to the capital of Tehran, the Israel Defense Force has released a graphic showing all the strikes so far against Iran and what was targeted, with dozens of air-defense sites and radars having been destroyed by the Israeli Air Force.

The Israeli-American deception ahead of the strike was masterful. There was the Trump back-and-forth suggesting a deal might still be on the table, reports that Witkoff was holding a new round of talks Sunday, hints that Dermer was planning a trip, claims that CENTCOM commander Kurilla would arrive Saturday - and, of course, the wedding of @netanyahu’s son Avner, with a leak that the PM planned to spend the weekend in the North.

It brings to mind 2007, when IDF chief Gabi Ashkenazi attended a wedding just hours before Israel bombed Syria’s nuclear reactor, a carefully staged signal that all was normal.

The lesson? In moments like these, we see only the tiniest sliver of what is really happening. Like a submarine with just its periscope breaking the surface, we caught a glimpse. Nothing more.

A Marine SSgt recommended we relook at Special Duty. I was impressed to see how many Marine Reservists wanted to volunteer to go active for three years so they could be Recruiters, Drill Instructors, and Marine Security Guards. That’s a win/win for the entire Marine Corps...
