Kudos to @carlhjune@PennMedicine and Michel Sadelain @Columbia for receiving the 13th Ross Prize “for their pioneering work in developing CAR T‑cell therapy for cancer treatment.”
The Ross prize holds a special place in the history of science and medicine because it specifically honors the convergence of science, medicine and technology that led to directly to new therapies.
And it celebrates the excellence of the outstanding individuals who persist from the discovery, to the development, and through the deployment of new therapies that alleviate suffering for the world.
Congratulations Carl and Michele! @NYASciences@NorthwellHealth@MolMedBMC@SpringerNature
Reconnected with Wim @Iceman_Hof yesterday at #SXSW after 19 years! The Great Nerve comes full circle in our panel discussion on real neuroimmunology vs. hype in biohacking. #VagusNerve#Biohacking
We now have FDA approval for vagus-nerve stimulation in rheumatoid arthritis, with other preclnical and clinical trials showing effects in IBD, MS, metabolic syndrome, epilepsy, depression, hemorrhage, and other conditions. That's an extraordinary arc from a basic science observation to medical usefulness.
Rheumatology, neurology, psychiatry, gastroenterology: all now intersect on the vagus nerve. One of the challenges is that our medical training is still organized as if those systems are separate.
Vagus Nerve Stimulation increases remyelination and decreases brain inflammation: important implications for future clinical trials and the therapy of #MS.

https://t.co/dxCatcxg98 Interesting - “climate science has become … more about serving as a kind of Cassandra, urgently warning the public about the dangers …distorts a great deal of climate science research, misinforms the public…”
@weatherchannel -I get your alerts. But it is off-putting when you make us watch FOUR VIDEOS before we get to see the content.
I get a bad feeling in my gut every time I see one of your alerts. This is not the reaction you want your customers to have to your brand.
@pandoramusic You are doing great. But please never play "Falling In and Out of Love" by Pure Prairie League if it is not immediately followed by "Amie". Thank you.
Hey @weatherchannel - I don’t like to be faced with a 30-second ad every time I click on your alerts. I just x-out. This must hurt your traffic if everyone does this. ‘Maybe mix it up a bit.
