Then I realised, one of the things I am looking forward to about eternity in the new creation, is finally having time to read all those books and more!
A line in an article I read today that really struck me: "It is folly to think generosity depends upon abundance. If you will not give out of your lack, you will not give out of your plenty."
Everyone talks about the growing Wealth Gap, but there's also a growing Reading Gap:
• 40% of adults read 0 books a year.
• 40% of adults read <10 books a year.
• 4% of adults read 50 or more books a year.
In total, 19% of adults do 82% of the country's book reading.
Twice this week our parliament has tried to alleviate burdens — at the beginning and end of life.
But we’re not meant to eliminate burdens, we’re meant to carry them:
@DublinAirport Spectacularly poor performance today for arrival of EI60 from SF. 45 mins waiting to get onto stand. And now waiting 45 mins and counting for bags.
@goldstone_tony Tony thanks for all your invaluable input on McCloud remedy. My accountant submitted my info and I'm thankfully due a refund. Is there any information on how long that takes to come through?
It’s lucky we have a famously competent state, a well-funded health service, & courts with plenty of time on their hands, or I’d be worrying that this is a terrible decision
