Here's a larger patch of the new aperiodic monotile with tiles rendered as shirts. The shirts without buttons are flipped over (mirrored tile shape). Each of the six possible rotational orientations is given its own color.
We were nervous but pulled it off. Lots of laughs today as @MrMatuaRyan and I facilitated some meaningful making. We worked hard to step back, easier said than done!
Preschool Teachers taking risks, learning, failing, & celebrating today as they explore Maker Education in @tinker_dixon and Iโs PD session. #stem#makerspace#stemeducation
I had fun prepping for next fall by building this rigid heddle loom. Thank you to Kellie Dunn for the design, her plans and files here: https://t.co/iLoYi4WZTI
We started experimenting with electric mechanical systems yesterday! We ripped apart a servo and discussed the importance of the potentiometer for control. I highly recommend these resources: https://t.co/qVq3fn27ob @ConcordDotOrg @CUCraftLab
@stepville @MoniseLSeward He helped me coach my robotics team one day and asked a group of girls whether they were looking for help before giving a suggestion. Swoon.
First test with the new tile mold! โกโป๏ธ๐ ๏ธ 350g of recycled plastic, 0% waste.
This is the first test I've made with the new mold, using shredded PLA from failed 3D prints. This is the result you can get with a 4โฌ silicone mold and a cheap oven. #PlasticSmoothie#PreciousPlastic

@steph_muscat @ryanejenkins @TinkeringStudio @wonderfulideaco We used 3mm mdf. Joinery was thumb tacks and fishing line which wasn't ideal. An eye hook would work better I think.
The reflections were really strong. Students were consistently able to identify errors either in their math or with the assembly/materials.
Building quadrats with an environmental science class tomorrow. Great way to learn how to use a drill and do some measuring. Jotting down a few reminders is my favorite lesson plan.
@shirky17 Late reply, sorry about that! This was my documentation. I didn't go through it slide by slide, just pulled up slides when needed. https://t.co/Zb5Ztbxuoh
