@patheticdreamr i mean "i'm presenting this deeply evil symbol because it's funny and i can and i'm a babykilling machinegunner and you're not" does track with his own statements
For All Mankind possibly the only show that would actually benefit from having one of those "slowly rotating cgi objects" prestige tv openings, they have the coolest cgi objects and you don't get to see them enough!
@PedanticKilljoy if pressed for my sincere opinion i actually really like how his Patlabor movies, for instance, start off with a healthy dose of goofing around and then just become a serious adult drama featuring goto & nagumo
ugh i HATE it when mamoru oshii makes a haunting tone poem slash logistical techno thriller about all that is solid melting into air, instead of faithfully adapting "Cyber Feds Goof Around"
@RelevantGoon look eventually you've used up all your principles putting them in your haunting tone poems slash logistical techno thrillers and there's nothing for it
@htmljones seasons 9 & 10 are really good but it took him the run-up of seasons 5-7 being dogshit and 8 being kind of okay. say what you will about RTD but when he was good, he was good from day 1
@uncanny_eli see this is exactly it for me, i think the film would've worked more for me if emma continued to have like any flaws at all in the present day, it would've felt much less telegraphed
pretty funny seeing people go "i'm surprised everyone is so sympathetic to Emma in The Drama - guess it just speaks to the strength of Zendaya's performance!" as if that movie's deck is not incredibly stacked in favour of you siding with her, and feeling rebellious for doing so
i wonder if kristoffer borgli has any kind of vested interest in having everyone go on team "well i mean it's not actually a big deal if you think about it, and i mean we can't really go after people for THOUGHTCRIME can we" etc etc,
Highly motivated nerds with the technology of today and nothing but time on their hands have been doing their utmost to reverse engineer the Autechre back catalogue and they've only managed to get as far as 1998 or so.
