and the thing is *exactly* like the old one - save for the buttons that are now flush, shiny plastics.
it takes a solid 20 seconds for the menu to fully load (I need to time it tomorrow, maybe itβs not quite that bad, but it feels glacially slow).
A teen hacked Nvidia, got arrested, was released on bail under police supervision. Police confiscated his laptop and put him in a motel room. He then used the Amazon fire stick connected to his motel room TV to hack Rockstar and steal GTA 6 clips https://t.co/8vNxyg2CGZ
NVIDIA basically compressed 30 years of its corporate memory into 13B parameters. Our greatest creations add up to 24B tokens, including chip designs, internal codebases, and engineering logs like bug reports. Let that sink in.
The model "ChipNeMo" is deployed internally, like a shared genie:
- EDA scripts generation. EDA stands for "Electronic Design Automation", a core software suite for designing the next-gen GPUs. These scripts are the keys to a $1T market cap π¦Ύ;
- Engineering assistant chatbot for GPU ASIC and Architecture engineers that understands internal hardware design specs and is capable of explaining complex design topics;
- Bug summarization and analysis as part of an internal bug and issue tracking system;
- Domain-finetuned retriever that achieves much better accuracy over internal knowledge.
And we publish a whitepaper to share ChipNeMo's creation process: https://t.co/dMG5AFMXTH

Congrats to Haoxing "Mark" Ren's team for the outstanding work!
@enappsys βMeanwhile, in Germany, the closure of nuclear power plants was the main reason why the energy balance flipped to imports. These closures meant that Germany had to source additional power from other countries in periods of low renewable generation.β

Audi plans to use Chinese technology from SAIC to produce BEVs
Audi is negotiating with Chinese joint venture partner SAIC to jointly develop electric cars, according to the company. SAIC chief engineer Zu Sijie told reporters Thursday that his company had agreed with Audi to jointly accelerate the development of electric cars. Audi said it is working with partners on the future direction of its China business.
According to information from the Handelsblatt, Audi plans to use Chinese technology to produce BEVs in the A3 and A4 series in Shanghai as early as next year. The core technology of an electric car will then be sourced from its Chinese partners. According to sources, Audi could take over SAIC's electric platform. In addition, Audi wants to develop a new joint technical platform with SAIC for future electric models to be launched on the market from 2027/28.
We are entering a phase of BEV transformation where unsuccessful brands are buying technology from other automakers to remain competitive.
The very fact that Chinese technology is being used in the German luxury brand Audi shows that Audi is not capable of developing and manufacturing good BEVs and is relying on companies that can do it better. Most of the value creation in vehicles will no longer be with Audi, but with SAIC.
Audi is just the first to declare defeat and other brands will follow.

STANFORD TORUS MEGATHREAD
Youβve seen the pictures, but you probably donβt know the full story.
It's the result of a 10-week engineering study at Stanford University in 1975, funded by NASA and led by Girard OβNeill - the most thorough study on free-space settlement to date.

Mercedes Benz Insider on BEVs from π¨π³ China
"They are light years ahead of us in taking customers' habits and wishes into account. We're trapped in regulations and processes."
Chinese manufacturers would immediately implement customer requests. One example is the sleeper function. The car adjusts the seats to a horizontal position, preheats itself and filters the air. Chinese customers could then briefly sleep in the car for 30 minutes during their lunch break. Although this is nothing more than a combination of existing technologies, German manufacturers in China have to go through months of internal coordination processes to achieve this. Chinese OEMs simply implement something like this.
Midjourney v5 is here! (for real this time, lol)
Here are some side-by-sides of my prompts, v4 vs v5, as well as some new prompts and crowd shots. I'll add more to this as I experiment.

This is ridiculous, Netflix's monthly EC2 spend was $19M in 2020 (source: https://t.co/IPT55z39S0) when EVERYONE was binging TV shows at home.
No way an SEO company would spend anywhere near that.
Did someone forget to tell them the E in EC2 stands for "elastic"?

Silicon Valley Bank was rumored to be in a sale process to protect its depositors.
Now, it's the second biggest banking failure in US history.
All because of a secular bet against rising rates:
Life cycle of a Software Engineer:
1. Write code
2. Lead architecture decisions (write less code)
3. Manage (write zero code)
Most of my college buddies are now at 3, and very proud of not having coded "for many years".
"Wait, are you still writing code??", they ask me.
I am sure you are all eager to know more about HW4, so I am going to show you the refreshed car computer from a Model X. Just don't tell anybody you saw it, because it's really a secret still.
