Chapter I โ Earth
Post I.I
Earth did not fall apart.
It was slowly taken.
Jeff walked through the forest as carts passed him in silence. Heavy with gold.
Heavy with everything that had been removed from the ground and never replaced.
The bamboo forest around him felt thinner than he remembered. Not empty โ just diminished.
Where bamboo once grew without question, there were now gaps.
Broken roots.
Soil that had been disturbed too many times to heal on its own.
Jeff looked beyond the path and saw his kin scattered at the edges of the forest.
Pandas who once lived without concern now searched carefully. Not in panic โ in quiet confusion.
Bamboo was more than food.
It was balance.
It was rhythm.
It was the reason tomorrow felt predictable.
Without it, something deeper was lost.
Humans called what they were doing progress.
They believed value came from taking what could not grow back.
Gold. Silver. Anything finite.
They did not see the contradiction.
The more they took, the less remained.
The more they owned, the poorer the world became.
The problem was never a lack of resources.
It was the belief that life could be sustained by ownership instead of growth.
Jeff did not stop the carts.
He did not raise his voice.
He did not blame.
He kept walking.
Because before a civilization can change its direction,
someone has to understand what has already been lost.
This is where the story begins.
