“Recovery is not just about rebuilding structures. It’s helping people overcome trauma, restore dignity, and regain stability.”

As waters recede in northwest #Morocco, the crisis is far from over, as families are returning to damaged homes, contaminated water sources, lost crops, and shattered livelihoods, while health risks continue to rise and the economic impact is expected to be felt for months to come.

The @MaMrcs and its volunteers are working side by side with authorities and communities to assess damage, promote hygiene, support safe returns, and provide cash assistance so families can recover in ways that preserve their dignity and meet their most urgent needs.

Recovery must begin now by restoring homes, rehabilitating essential services, supporting livelihoods, and strengthening preparedness as climate-related disasters become more extreme and more frequent.

She reiterated during her visit to headquarters of @MaMrcs in Marrakech that the @ifrc will continue to support @MaMrcs in strengthening its preparedness and expanding services to the most vulnerable, amid growing challenges linked to climate change.

The @IFRC has activated its Disaster Response Emergency Fund (@IFRC_DREF) to support the @MaMrcs in providing immediate assistance to families in shelters, including food, hygiene assistance and health risk prevention, as recovery needs continue to grow.

This IFRC-DREF allocation was made to support the Algerian Red Crescent in aiding those affected by the recent flood by restoring safe and dignified living conditions, reducing health and protection risks, and supporting early recovery, including enabling affected children to return to school in safer and more dignified conditions.

The recent floods in Algeria remind us how extreme weather is impacting vulnerable communities across North Africa. The rapid DREF activation shows the strength of our collective response.

On 20 January 2026, flooding across multiple regions of #Algeria disrupted daily life for millions, with communities facing damage to homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods due to severe weather.

Through the activation of a DREF allocation, the @ifrc Societies supported the @red_algerian in responding to immediate needs and assisting affected families, while closely monitoring the situation on the ground.

We thank the Algerian Red Crescent and all responders for their continued humanitarian efforts and commitment to affected communities.

Following the recent floods, the @CroissantRouge carried out urgent humanitarian interventions to support affected families in all impacted areas who suffered material damage.

The response included the distribution of mattresses and blankets to meet immediate needs, with support from the National Headquarters and in coordination with local authorities.

Thank you to the Tunisian Red Crescent teams and partners for their continued humanitarian efforts.

على إثر الفيضانات الأخيرة التي شهدتها البلاد، نفّذ @CroissantRouge تدخّلات إنسانية عاجلة لدعم العائلات المتضرّرة في كافة المناطق المتضررة التي لحقت بها أضرار مادية.

وشملت الاستجابة توزيع فرشات نوم وأغطية لتلبية الاحتياجات الأساسية، وذلك بدعم من الهيئة الوطنية للهلال الأحمر التونسي وبالتنسيق مع السلطات المحلية.

Proud of accompanying Moroccan RC on their journey to integrate safeguarding and protection across their work @MaMrcs @IFRC_MENA

From 11 to 13 November 2025, the @MaMrcs, @CroixRouge, and @ifrc held a training in Taroudant for national and provincial safeguarding committees, where 17 participants strengthened their capacity to manage sensitive complaints effectively, impartially, and confidentially.

The training focused on:
🧭 Clarifying roles and responsibilities between national and provincial levels
📘Reinforcing safeguarding standards and policies
🗂️Learning standard procedures for handling sensitive complaints
🎙️Building practical skills for interviews, survivor support, and referrals
🤝Strengthening collaboration and communication
🛡️Improving communication with communities while ensuring confidentiality and trust

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed their expertise and support to this training.

As part of the Tunisian Red Crescent’s efforts to promote the right to health, a health caravan was organized in Jendouba from November 7 to 9. The initiative involved 50 doctors across 20 medical specialties and included the provision of one ton of medicines to benefit patients.

The caravan also featured breast cancer screening campaigns and offered over 3,000 medical consultations to local residents, in a spirit of volunteerism that reflects the values of human solidarity and generosity.

We were honored today to welcome Mr. Moulay Hafid Alaoui, Vice President of the Moroccan Red Crescent, and Head of First Aid, Youth, and Disaster Management, Dr @bendalimed1.
We discussed ways to strengthen strategic cooperation between both sides beyond the IFRC Emergency Appeal for the Al Haouz earthquake.

Two years after the #Al_Haouz_earthquake, we remember the lives lost, honor the resilience of survivors, and celebrate the spirit of solidarity that shone through.

With the @MaMrcs leading the way and the @IFRC network standing in support, homes have been rebuilt, children are back in school, and communities have regained hope.

Recovery is not only about rebuilding walls, it’s about restoring dignity, strengthening resilience, and preparing for the future.
