“What we have learnt with previous Ebola outbreaks is that the response is not on the health side only, but it comes from and within the communities.” IFRC’s Regional Operations Coordinator in Africa, Gabriela Arenas @GabsAre, spoke to @BBCWorld about the Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

In Lebanon, @RedCrossLebanon emergency medical teams are saving lives under unimaginable conditions. Fear is constant, but so is their commitment to humanity.

They ask for one thing: protection, so they can carry out their mission without fear.

The @IFRC emergency appeal is only 12.5% funded, putting critical lifesaving support at risk.

The announcement of a ceasefire early this month was a welcome relief. The reality on the ground, however, is very different. The impact of weeks of intense conflict is deeper than what the headline suggests.

The consequences are still unfolding, and will continue to be felt by @Iranian_RCS for months and years to come.

The @IFRC is scaling up its support. This includes a revised emergency appeal of CHF120 million to serve 10 million people and meet increasing needs.

Behind every hospital bed is a child who has survived more than any child ever should.

Today, young patients from #Gaza are beginning to heal — some after complex surgeries, others still waiting for their turn. Children who lost limbs are being fitted with prosthetic legs. Those who could not walk are taking their first steps again at the @_JNRCS.
Farah is one of them.
