@X/@elonmusk You all know that the Twitter -> X rebranding isn't fully complete yet, right? Saw some references to Twitter & honestly found it a little odd.
And yes, I re-enabled 2FA again, don't worry ๐
@goldman 100% agree. One can hope that they don't get severely burnt out... software engineers are not code monkeys; they have feelings & things to do in their personal endeavours too.
There's a time & place for working this late, this is not one of them.
I've seen a lot of people asking "why does everyone think Twitter is doomed?"
As an SRE and sysadmin with 10+ years of industry experience, I wanted to write up a few scenarios that are real threats to the integrity of the bird site over the coming weeks.
@MosquitoCapital It's always SSL certs & enterprise licenses expiring that bites most companies at least once, and causes everyone to scramble. This can even take down backends due to all the increased traffic.
You can hire brilliant people, but nothing can replace domain specific knowledge.
@MosquitoCapital SWENG & security buff here... I also love thinking about disaster scenarios, mostly in the shower out of all things. ๐
Another thing to add are procurement things, e.g.: have you renewed your copy of X enterprise software? Who's going to review the new contract when it expires?
@1Password Just letting you all know, a bug exists when changing keyboards on your latest version of the Android app (v7.9.1). Believe your devs meant for that to be a string replacement. ๐
@keithbmiller@Node4u_info@GorillaServers The routes from the Ogden datacenter (hosted by WebNX) just got canned. Could be a boo-boo someone made on a core router or full power failure causing BGP announcements to drop. Their provider https://t.co/MR4peKuzUZ posted a little bulletin at the bottom of their site. Welp.
