@andrewbertaina I recently had a next level one where one pretended to be a real editor at a real publisher, inviting me to reply through my agent if applicable. Hopefully they get sophisticated enough to create actual publishing house that sell books to humans to add additional realism.

@AliceFromQueens The root problem is lack of readers, and any solution--grants from rich people (or universities) who impact content; be subsidized by aspiring authors; pay staff low amounts; or all 3--is going to be unsatisfactory. The alternative to not picking a poison, sadly, is no litmags.

@jessesingal Taiwan had something similar until ~20 years ago. I recall being surprised to learn in college (late 90s/early 2000s) that Taiwan would likely win any military confrontation with China even without (further) US aid but also couldn't win ground war. That edge is lost now.

@cayce89297 @Aella_Girl 4B is a fringe movement. Even in South Korea--an outlier country w/ lowest world birth rate, low claimed desire for marriage, traditional expected roles, etc--a large majority of women are still married by their late 30s and more cohabitate exclusively.

Books pushed on young people by schools, publishing cos, et al are simultaneously groaningly ideological but also sanitized/not very good writing.
