“If you think the world is selfish and rotten, go to the cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer overlooking Omaha Beach. See what one group of men did for another on D-Day, June 6th, 1944.” — Andy Rooney
An insane stat from @mitchholthus on the recent Defending the Kingdom episode:
This is the 1st time in the HISTORY of the Broncos and Chiefs that the season has opened with them playing in Kansas City! Five other season-opening games since 1960- all in Denver.
INSANE! 😱🤯
Trade: The Miami Dolphins are sending Minkah Fitzpatrick to the New York Jets in exchange for the 2026 seventh-round pick from the Chargers, per ESPN sources.
The Jets will sign Fitzpatrick to a three-year, $40 million deal, per his agent Drew Rosenhaus.
If Drake Maye wins the SB we can discuss this, until then:
The 2023 Chiefs finished the season beating these scoring defenses:
The Bills- 4th
The Ravens- 1st
The Niners- 3rd
Oh, and those defenses were quarterbacked by: Josh, Lamar & Purdy.
Out of curiosity, I looked at my original preseason simulation and asked how often BAL, CIN, DET and KC all missed the playoffs.
It gave me 0.06% odds.
There is something very strange happening in the NFL this season that's going to lead to people making sweeping generalizations they'll later regret.
All of these teams who have won their division for 2+ years are struggling and at risk to even make the playoffs:
• Chiefs
• Ravens
• Bills
• Lions
• Texans
• Buccaneers
That's 75% of division winners and yet people only focus on KC because of hatred and jealousy.
I could just as easily say it's over for Baltimore and they have to fire Harbaugh. It's over in the AFC East for Buffalo and they have to fire McDermott.
Don't forget the Ravens and Bills had higher SB odds than KC coming into this season too.
Shit (injuries/turnovers) happens. Teams have off years. It'd be unprecedented for this many teams to have an off year at the same time but that's 2025 so far.
So far. Nothing has been clinched yet btw. For all we know most of these teams still win their division and one goes to the SB.
But I'd be very careful about making predictions that a team is dead and you're just going to pencil in new teams like Denver, Indy, and NE for division titles in 2026 and beyond.
There is fool's gold everywhere this season. Don't be the fool who buys into it as the new norm.
Career games played with top two wide receivers both out (injured or suspended):
