@OleTimeHardball Pedro was great, but it’s hard to argue with 13 shutouts. Double figures has only been done twice since then. And 28 complete games, 300+innings. Things got wacky the next year of 2001. Both pitchers came after you, mainly with strikes. Gibby wasn’t to be messed with.
@bturner23 I didn’t like losing the 2 picks but may still have enough picks left. KC may not go after an edge, but I still think a big WR, TE, and RB to go w/ Walker is needed. That’s where extra picks come in. Even a LB or two. But Veach has continually missed w/skill players especially.
@winns_shiesty Well at least Donnie won’t beat them this weekend. If the Cards don’t make some necessary moves quick, like letting a couple relievers go, a couple catchers go, call up a few other players. Holes in the lineup hurting. Put Leahy back in the bullpen. Otherwise reality sets in.
@The_Ryan_Shull I agree w/@redbirdnerds, it doesn’t seem like Leahy is enjoying being a starter. I think Graceffo is as reliable as Romero, Jo Jo has some hiccups. Last night would’ve been another good time to let Graceffo finish it out to save bullpen. Either call Hence up or let him go.
@_TaylorKitchen_ It was a most unusual Kansas race.
Maybe the drivers don’t need to take care of brakes & tires as much. Maybe the weather helped.
As for points, there’s still stage points, which could make a big difference this season. If the team already has plenty stage points, DNF’s trivial
@_TaylorKitchen_ That was certainly a race at Kansas that was squeaky clean. No wrecks, no blowouts. Only one caution, that cost Hamlin the race. A lot different than many others there, like 2014 Spring for example. Today not even a squabble with KB. Not even Hocevar stirred up trouble!
@_TaylorKitchen_ You can’t challenge a champion and get away with it. They were former teammates, so it makes me wonder if Hamlin is trying to fire up KB on purpose? Or was just stating an honest opinion as delicately as he could? We all know Busch is an all-time great. Hamlin unqualified.
@JJWETHERH0LT Opinion partially from reaction when they were in Springfield:
Yadi wanted as manager.
Bloom makes needed moves?
Carey is fine w/Thompson.
Mo was ok until after 2013.
I agree w/ @_Matt_Hammond_ that Oli blamed for Mo’s idiocy. Marmol got as much as he could out of ‘25 team.
@Angels One of my favorites from the 90’s, World Series champ in ‘02. When he came up early summer of ‘95, it seemed like he was on the sports highlights every morning, knocking in game winning runs. .293 lifetime, a ton of RBI’s, was very overshadowed in the illegal enhancement era.
@TheSports_Shift On this list they all make a case. As a Cards fan ‘11 of course. But that ‘86 series was stout. ‘72 didn’t see. ‘94 never happened. ‘79 was great & colorful. ‘81 Fernando. ‘82 was big for me. ‘01 & ‘02 closers, Garret. ‘14 Bochy moves. ‘17 was great. ‘19 Nats run was memorable.
@PBisaillion@TheSports_Shift Yes, what might’ve been! That Expos team was so loaded, I had that pitching staff in my fantasy league (ca-Ching!). And imagine the home field advantage they would have had. Those were nightmare road trips my Cardinals made back then. “Expos” had to wait 35 years in a new city.
@rogerclemens As a Cardinals fan, seeing these young players I watched at AA Springfield get their chance is fun, but sometimes reality sets in with the execution mistakes by the pitchers, defensive lapses, and the holes in the lineup. When it’s obvious other players should be up, frustrating
@Indie5051 Ha ha, I’d put the Cars ahead of a third of these 50. But the Eagles not on this list is the biggest crime. No Foreigner, Fleetwood Mac, Kiss, Cheap Trick, Styx, Aerosmith, or Alice Cooper? Rolling Stone is strictly food stamps.
@AdamAkbani It’s very early for JJ, I was watching him play in Springfield just last summer. I believe he will improve in all facets. He may be over swinging a bit. He’s playing every game. My grade would be B-, with a high ceiling.
@JeffEisenband In years past, Rory always seemed to start the Masters slow, then catch up on the weekends. The last couple years, he has handled the greens better. Scotty was tremendous over the weekend. Thursday the greens were noticeably fast, messed up a lot of the favorites.
@JonathanYarwood Despite the hiccup on 15, I like the way Young is playing, and handling the greens. Rory has also handled the greens well the last couple years. Burns, Rose, Lowry, and Day are the possible spoilers. It may be too far out of reach for Scotty. Would like to see Rose or Day win tho
@JonnyRoot_ McIlroy came in with no pressure. He’s reading the greens better than most. And some may have felt he didn’t care about repeating. He may not care. That’s even more relaxing. I just hope someone at least gives him a challenge. Maybe Rory doesn’t want to put a jacket on anyone.
@RotoSurgeon There are a few good points here. Contact should be first thought, also true for Gorman (and Wetherholt). None of these guys need to swing hard, just solid contact. Walker going to right field is a sign, getting the ball airborne another. I like seeing what he & Gorman are doing.
@ChaseDaniel Every time a player is mentioned, he ends up being on a team picking ahead of the Chiefs in the mock drafts. Sadiq or even their other TE, or Stowers fine, but shouldn’t be at #9. Since the Chiefs signed Walker, I’d think Love is off the table. But I also like Price.
@Turn2Dude I think Marmol overthinks himself while handling the bullpen. With the lead Graceffo could’ve covered the last two innings, instead of bringing in struggling arms. The Cardinals’ abundance of young talent should make the next couple years interesting; who stays, who goes.
