ITALY: Haha, we drink espresso in the dugout!
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Haha, we’re having so much fun hyping each other up!
TEAM USA: We’re listening to a man describe in detail the raid to kill Osama Bin Laden to prepare us to play Canada in baseball.
Every day at 7PM, taps is played over the loudspeakers at Dallas National Cemetery, just beyond the outfield wall at DBU
During every gameday at 7, they pause to honor the fallen troops buried just beyond the wall
One of the best traditions in sports
Tommy Hottovy, man. This guy deserves a ton of credit. He's been with the organization since 2014 as a run prevention coordinator...pitching coach since 2018.
He broke ground on this Cubs "pitching infrastructure." He saw it through with several hirings of coordinators, coaches, front office turnover, and two managerial turnovers (with multiple coaching turnovers). He's been there through all of it.
World Series Cubs legend Kyle Hendricks? Hottovy watched every single pitch he threw as a Cub.
Justin Steele's development? Hottovy. Cade? Hottovy. Palencia? Hottovy.
Building bullpens through late career renaissances? Hottovy.
And finally, through all those years and effort — he got to experience his first playoff series win in the dugout.
Hottovy's one of the most influential figures in this era of Chicago Cubs baseball.
