I don't have to explain in every post that I'm against the Israeli occupation just because I'm also against Hamas.
It is completely fine—and morally consistent—to oppose both.
The only people who deliberately conflate Palestinian freedom with support for Hamas are Hamas itself and its disgusting supporters. They want the world to believe that rejecting Hamas means abandoning Palestine. It doesn't.
I stand with my people and advocate for their freedom—not with terrorists, and not with occupation.
Down with the occupation. Down with Hamas.
Sudan no longer makes it to the headlines but that doesn’t mean the need is no longer there. Millions remain without access to basic nutrition, healthcare or Education. Our teams on the ground are doing as much as they can to alleviate suffering with what resources they have but they can only continue to do so if the support we have come to rely upon for our work continues. Even if you aren’t in a position to donate a simple share goes a long way. Thanks.
@LucBernard@IhabHassane Lived in Washington Heights my entire life. She not saying it's exactly the same. She's pointing to similarities (albeit poorly) between the economic displacement happening in this neighborhood—one of the poorest in the entire country—and the displacement happening in Pal.
@itamarbengvir You are a psychopath and one of the greatest threats to the security of Israel and of Jewish people around the world. You belong in a psychiatric institution, not in a government role.
There was a time — mostly between January and April of this year — that if you were an Iranian who didn’t support Trump, Iranian monarchists would absolutely destroy you on Instagram.
If you were a woman, they’d attack you in the most disgusting misogynistic terms.
I have all the receipts.
I’m coming after all of you traitors.
Middle East analysts say Trump's deal with Iran is a humiliating defeat for the United States. A guy who shits himself in public and thinks windmills cause cancer says it's an amazing foreign policy triumph. For busy Americans, it can be hard to know who to trust.
Lander is "explicitly Zionist." Supports Israel as a Jewish and democratic state, and has said so over and over.
But you know this already, don't you. What you mean by "explicitly Zionist" is someone who believes Palestinians don't exist.
Why does "Jewish-Muslim solidarity" require submission to Islamist narratives in exchange for a pat on the head? Lander is on stage with someone wearing a keffiyeh. Would the Muslim activists share a stage with someone explicitly Zionist?
@The_RealHermes@Jolly_Olive Our shithead GM gutted the heart and soul of the team after the '24 season. Like Alanso said, he focuses too much on formulas.
@The_RealHermes@Jolly_Olive At the time of the signing the Mets were two wins short of the World Series. Things fell apart after that because the Mets are the Mets, but it made a little more sense at the time.
A new report by Physicians for Human Rights shows how Arab doctors and health workers are being persecuted in Israel for their political opinions:
1) The report, based on 32 in-depth interviews and a survey of 310 Arab workers, reveals a wave of disciplinary hearings across 15 hospitals and all HMOs targeting Arab staff for social media posts, private comments, or even old profile pictures.
2) Dr. Abed Samara, a senior ICU director with 15 years of service, was suspended after a colleague misinterpreted an old Quran verse on his profile as Hamas support. Despite the case being closed by police, he still hasn't returned. Other workers were fired or suspended for saying "there are casualties on the other side too," sharing images of children killed in Gaza, or alleged private remarks.
3) Arab workers report self-censoring, scrubbing old social media likes, avoiding Arabic news apps at work, and staying silent when Jewish colleagues discuss politics.
4) Arab staff were pressured to hang Israeli flags, hold hostage photos, wear flag pins, and pose for "unity" photos, sometimes right after learning of relatives killed in Gaza.
5) While Arab staff faced discipline for any expression of empathy for Palestinian civilians, Jewish doctors publicly called for bombing Al-Shifa hospital or referred to Palestinians with dehumanizing language without facing sanctions.
6) Healthcare institutions largely refused to hand over disciplinary data. Those that did revealed sharp spikes. The share of Arab workers facing discipline jumped from 34% to 59% at Galilee Medical Center, and from 2.4% to 27% at Barzilai Hospital.
Israel has long pointed to its healthcare sector, which as a highter representation of Arabs than in the wider population, as evidence of co-existence and pluralism. But the truth is much darker.
The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.
We need a liberal international reset. All of the world’s illiberal leaders (Trump, Bukele, Putin, Xi, Kim Jong Un, Netanyahu, Orban, Erdogan, MBS, etc.) need to be rounded up, given show trials, thrown in prison, and their parties banned for a generation in order to save humanity.
Today is Trans Day of Visibility.
Trans, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming people have always been here — from the hijra of India to the Diné nádleehi to the leaders who built the modern LGBTQIA+ movement here in New York.
Your existence is not up for debate. Your lives are not a political issue.
We’re fighting for a city where every trans New Yorker can live openly, safely, and with joy.
