Zanu PF finally managed to crack the code for Zimbabwean men.
Just start giving others vehicles & give an illusion that it’s possible to receive one if you behave.
we debating the constitutionality of a term extension with men who think that cutting down on voting stationery and ballot papers is how we turn the economy around.
God save us from this madness.
I couldn’t sleep last night after Messi’s exploits, so I ended up crashing just after lunch. Naturally, that nap came with another completely unhinged dream. This time, it was about a corrupt FIFA like organization trying to scare its UMPIRES by threatening its former sponsors and getting them arrested. Like real proper but secretive arrests. Apparently, that was the genius intimidation strategy; telling the UMPIRES that if sponsors could fall, what more them. A truly bizarre way of seeing the world.
They are spiteful when they feel invincible. The painful irony in this speech is impossible to ignore. As long as the amendment was directed at us and sought to undermine our interests you were ok with it. Now we must rally behind you because the very same amendment has caused you personal injury? No Sir, that’s not how it’s done. Our principles must be consistent and Zimbabwe must always come first. In the meantime a big NO to CAB3 but not in defence of Sokostina.
Forget 48 countries, I want EVERY single nation next World Cup for the 100 year anniversary!!
No group stage, straight knockouts. Don’t ask me about logistics 👍🏽
Somalia is a country that's internationally recognised as a "legitimate" country.
Somaliland is a region inside Somalia (Geographically),
And according to internationally recognised boundaries territories.
However,
Politically speaking,
& In practice,
Somaliland functions as an independent state.
They have their own government, currency, and military,
However (again lol),
It is not internationally recognised as a separate country.
Within Somalia,
The gvt of Somalia insists Somaliland is part of its territory.
Fun fact: Israel is the first and only UN member state to formally recognise Somaliland as a separate country from Somalia.
What Israel benefits from this is another interesting topic,
But let me not digress.
I genuinely don’t understand why it’s so important that the federal reserve is independent. It seems like the tenth most important lever the president has for juicing the economy before an election in a long-term damaging way
Mark this tweet #Zimbabweans. One day we will reverse all the undemocratic amendments to our beloved 2013 Constitution.
In future the only amendments to it will be those which enhance it - which build on its foundations- not those which undermine its very foundations.
When this will happen I can’t say but it will happen just as firmly as the end of white minority rule, the crashing down of the Berlin Wall, and all other events in history when tyranny ends.
As Barack Obama noted yesterday
“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.”
Obama noted that although the phrase is often associated with Martin Luther King Jr., it actually originated with a Boston abolitionist preacher, Reverend Theodore Parker, in a sermon delivered more than 170 years ago.
Obama explained that Parker preached these words in the dark period following the Compromise of 1850, when the anti-slavery movement seemed to be losing ground and fugitive slaves were being returned to bondage. Parker acknowledged that justice often appeared absent in the world, but expressed faith that history ultimately bends toward justice.
The fuller quotation Rev Parker used was:
“I do not pretend to understand the moral universe. The arc is a long one. My eye reaches but little ways. I cannot calculate the curve and complete the figure by the experience of sight. I can divine it by conscience. But from what I see, I am sure it bends toward justice.”
So too in Zimbabwe. Ultimately there will be justice and the rule of violent, cruel, corrupt and unprincipled men will end.
