I grew up Republican. Still am in many ways. But MAGA pushed the party so far right that I get called a liberal now.

Let me explain the difference:

Traditional Republicans believe in:

• Fiscal responsibility (balanced budgets, not exploding deficits for tax cuts)
• Limited government (actual small government, not big government that punishes your enemies)
• Strong institutions (courts, elections, constitutional norms matter)
• Personal responsibility (your actions have consequences)
• Free markets (not tariffs and trade wars)
• Strong alliances (NATO, international partnerships)
• Rule of law (no one is above it, including the president)
MAGA Republicans believe in:

• Whatever Trump says today (even if it contradicts yesterday)
• Loyalty tests (agree 100% or you're a traitor/RINO)
• Conspiracy theories over facts (stolen election, deep state, QAnon adjacent stuff)
• Grievance politics (owning the libs > actual policy)
• Personality cult (Trump loyalty above party, above country, above truth)
• Performative outrage (culture war theater instead of governance)
• Ends justify means (storm the Capitol, ignore election results, whatever it takes)
I didn't move left. The party moved off a cliff.

I still believe in conservative principles. But when you say "maybe we should respect election results" or "fiscal responsibility matters" or "rule of law applies to everyone," you get called a liberal.

That's not conservatism. That's a cult.

The Associated Press brought on Bess Furman. United Press hired Ruby Black. The New York Herald Tribune sent Emma Bugbee for a few days—she stayed for months, her stories landing on the front page.
Over twelve years, Eleanor Roosevelt held 348 women-only press conferences.
Ruby Black called it "a New Deal for newswomen."
But Eleanor wasn't finished rewriting history.
After FDR's death in 1945, President Truman appointed her as a delegate to the United Nations.
Her male colleagues assigned her to a committee they considered unimportant—humanitarian and cultural concerns.
They assumed she'd do the least harm there.
They were wrong.
She was unanimously elected to chair the UN Commission on Human Rights.
For three years, she navigated Cold War politics and united 18 nations with competing interests to draft the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
On December 10, 1948, the UN General Assembly voted.
Forty-eight nations in favor. Zero opposed.
When it passed, every delegate rose to give Eleanor Roosevelt a standing ovation.
She called it "an international Magna Carta for all mankind."
She considered it her greatest achievement.
And she was right.
From a woman who sat in a parlor with female reporters on the floor—to the architect of the document that defines human dignity for all humanity.
Eleanor Roosevelt didn't just break glass ceilings.
She built ladders so others could climb up after her.

To be clear about what this depicts: An immigration officer threw a woman onto the ground. Alex Pretti, a registered nurse on scene as a legal observer, is filming and goes to help the woman up. He is then pepper sprayed and thrown to the ground for no discernible reason. Many officer surround and assault him; one removes his firearm, which police say appears to have been legally registered. They then execute him with a hail of bullets.

They are, objectively speaking, both cowards and criminals, while Pretti is what we teach people an American ought to be.
