If this democracy fails, I think history will look back & say it was due to the commodification of news. Media empires selling consumers the fiction they desired rather than the facts they needed, entertainment rather than info. It’s propaganda for the sake of profit.
@kjramseywrites@CTmagazine spot on. Thanks for articulating so well the crippling effects of shame. Any “kingdom centric” theology that is untethered from the Beatitudes really skews our understanding of blessing and the role of faith. The solidarity of Christ in our suffering is the good news.
I want to stoke the fire I’m in the middle of right now about as much as I want to amputate my toes without anesthesia. I’d much prefer to change the subject & move on & ignore the fury. I also want my family to have relief. But after intense prayer, I need to say a few things.->
Blessed are the ones
Who suffer violence
And still have strength
To love their enemies
Blessed is the faith
Of those who persevere
For though they fall
They’ll never know defeat
The kingdom is yours
I broke down at wept during this moment (among others) of Eugene Peterson’s funeral yesterday. I have parents who have whispered this message in my heart, and I hope to be one who whispers it to the hearts of others.
