We've published an exciting new issue of Inquiry: The Journal of the Virginia Community Colleges: https://t.co/yt0ZePn2fU - read scholarship on HyFlex instruction, mental health, dual enrollment, courses for incarcerated students, G3, DNA testing, and technology and memory.
@JayMorrisonATH I'm so sorry to hear this, Jay. Thank you for all the excellent coverage, statistical breakdowns, and entertaining pods! We're all so appreciative of your great work.
Every day, I reflect upon how fortunate I am to teach and learn from the great students at @TCCva and have the support of my wonderful colleagues across the VCCS. I am so deeply appreciative just to be in my position, and I’m sincerely humbled to be honored for doing what I love.
This past Wednesday, I was announced as the 2023 recipient of the prestigious Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence, “awarded annually to one teaching faculty member in the VCCS who distinctly represents the teaching excellence found at VCCS college(s).”
I’m so glad to be back in Roanoke for the VCCS New Horizons conference. I love how Pascal Losambe’s wonderful, analytical keynote has closely explored definitions (belonging, culture, mattering). #vccs
Irby: Part of adopting equitable practices at our institutions is the likelihood that there will be missteps and mistakes. We need to have the willingness to take risks and be creative. @DecoteauIrby#TYCA23
Irby with a shoutout to Dead Prez as one of the earliest hip hop texts he used in teaching GED English. That connection helped in further exploring literacy and musical texts. @DecoteauIrby#TYCA23
Irby: One way to establish a courageously confrontational culture (as opposed to collegial or congenial) is an equity keeper can be included at meetings alongside a minutes keeper to make sure everyone has a voice in conversations. @DecoteauIrby#TYCA23
Irby: “We have the ability to forge identities as human beings.” The challenge is to help students understand that the two-year college is where they’re at and there are valuable things that they can learn to propel themselves. @DecoteauIrby#TYCA23
The full #TYCA23 program is now available! The Conference will include a full day of learning with an opening session, over 30 sessions and roundtable discussions, and a keynote with Decoteau J. Irby @DecoteauIrby. There is still time to register! https://t.co/qRjTE5ZtrD
@brandon_curtis Truly incredible @therealmachines show last night in Richmond! I’m a longtime fan, and it was well worth the wait. I loved everything from lighting to the wall of sound to the setlist. I only wish it were a 3-hour set with a super long “The Fire Is Waiting” haha
It’s great to connect with colleagues and hear engaging speakers here in Virginia Beach at the Virginia Community Colleges Association annual conference.
I was named my college's Professor of the Year. Thank you to my colleagues for this incredible honor. I'm so grateful to be a part of the @TCCva community as we support our students in reaching their goals. https://t.co/VSDvVvlSii
