Today, we honour the courage and sacrifices of those who fought for true democratic rule and reaffirm our collective commitment to social justice, accountability, transparency, and good governance.
As we celebrate June 12, let us strengthen our resolve to fight corruption, protect democratic institutions, and actively participate in shaping Nigeria’s future.
True democracy thrives when we safeguard our civic space, ensuring that genuine civil society groups and a free press can operate without fear or restriction.
Together, let’s make democracy work for every Nigerian.
HAPPY DEMOCRACY DAY, NIGERIANS! 🇳🇬

I've spent decades advocating for women's political participation. The barriers haven't disappeared, they've evolved.
Our coalition's open letter to political parties outlines concrete steps for gender inclusive primaries in 2027.
In light of this, we respectfully appeal to all political parties to urgently:
. Ensure transparent, inclusive, and violence free party primaries;
. Create deliberate pathways for increased women’s representation on party ballots;
. Introduce and implement gender quotas within party constitutions and leadership structures at ward, local government, state, and national levels;
. Empower National Women Leaders within party structures with meaningful authority and participation in decision-making processes;
. Reduce excessive nomination form fees and other financial barriers that disproportionately disadvantage women aspirants;
. Publicly commit to affirmative measures that support women candidates ahead of the 2027 elections;
. Prevent the use of consensus arrangements and zoning processes as tools for excluding women from contesting;
. Promote equal treatment and fair opportunities for female aspirants during screenings, consultations, and delegate engagements.
We also urge party leaders to rise above narrow political interests and place national development at the center of their decisions.
Increasing women’s participation in governance is not merely a gender issue; it is fundamental to strengthening democracy, improving representation, and advancing national progress.

Keeping our environment clean is everyone’s responsibility. Simple actions like proper waste disposal and maintaining clean surroundings help prevent flooding, reduce pollution, and protect public health.
A clean environment today means a healthier tomorrow.

RAFSANJANI’S MESSAGE ON WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY
As the global community commemorates World Press Freedom Day, we honour journalists and media practitioners committed to truth, accountability, and the strengthening of democracy.
We recognise the courage and resilience of those who continue to inform the public, expose injustice, and amplify the voices that might otherwise go unheard.
Today, we also raise our voice to call for stronger protections for journalists, an end to harassment and impunity, and a media environment where press freedom can truly thrive. A free and independent press is not optional; it is essential.
Happy World Press Freedom Day!

Corruption weakens our institutions, wastes public resources, and slows national progress.
On #AntiCorruptionDay, we reflect on the Nigeria we want, one where transparency is real and public trust is earned.
Integrity is everyone’s business.
