MCCONNELL on PULTE at DNI:
“Very few Senate-confirmable positions come with statutory eligibility requirements. There are good reasons why the Director of National Intelligence is one of them. Anyone performing this role of such immense public trust must have the extensive national security experience required by statute, and no nominee who falls short of this requirement will earn my vote.”
@atrupar I love this framing, a direct comparison to the DOGE dumpster fire. We want good, efficient government which often requires review, iteration, and intervention. Conservatives don't believe in good government and when they get their hands on it, they prove it.
Director of National Intelligence is vacant. No confirmed Attorney General. Acting AG is Trump's personal lawyer. Secretary of Defense and FBI Director are drunks. Dumpster fire of a cabinet.
New: Senate punts on reconciliation amid DOJ weaponization fund backlash.
And Republicans are not happy with the Trump admin:
“They have fucked this up on too many levels to count,” one senior Senate aide said. “The only thing more toxic than demanding taxpayers foot the bill for a billion dollar ballroom is demanding taxpayers give billions of dollars to J6 rioters.”
