Proud to announce one of my photos has been selected as a finalist for the NZAPA! This a huge win for me as this is the first time entering the NZAPA/NZIPP and to be a finalist is something I am incredibly proud of.

@TamithaSkov I noticed yesterday there was a some what earth directed filament launch at the same time as the M5 flare yesterday, that you didn't seem to touch in the forecast you released. Is this something of interest?

Here it is! The Aurora Forecast for the West Coast of NZ. This uses a slightly modified version of NOAAs Hemispheric Power and Ovation Model, local astronomical night times, moon rise/set times and moon Illumination.

(4/4) I still have a lot to learn over the past couple years of chasing auroras, but this forecast is a combination of everything I have learnt. It is NOT anything like the Glendale App. This is an enhanced version of the ovation model, for my region.

(2/4) This has been working for a few months, and minor tweaks and updates have been happening to get it to a good place. I have been a bit generous to myself and made it a 2 hour forecast.

(3/4) As far as I'm aware, this is a world first and I'm super proud to share it with you all, even if you're not from NZ. This will be somewhat accurate for anywhere around the South Island of NZ, the main varying factor will be astronomical times.
