@andyserling I agree completely. I do have to admit there have been
times when I walked out at the end of the day thinking
"I wish they had cancelled"...
@HorseToWatch The hard truth is we are now breeding a type of horse
(bred for 2y/o sales) that CANNOT sustain this game.
The CC Oaks was a great 1.5 mile test at Belmont.
It is now a 9 furlong prep for the "marathon" Alabama.
Name the 10 furlong dirt stakes there are for fillies
& mares now.
@HorseToWatch Decades ago, I watched a horse named Stray Coin-
a big gray-race at Thistledown. He always raced
with "No Whip", His lifetime record was
105 starts: 17-7-16. Not a bad record for no whip.
Any Jockey can tell you about some horse that has
unique habits, tricks, dislikes.
@BH_SCollins I think Journalism is the right play.
They were close in ability last year.
Sov. is an Into Mischief while Journalism is by Curlin.
Both are great stallions but a Curlin tends to take a bigger
step forward from 3 to 4 y/o. With better odds he is the
right play.
@PaulMcG1992@LegendarysF1@UnracedF1 The engines don't let go like this anymore.
The most spectacular one I remember was
a Larrousse car with a Lamborghini V-12 engine
blew up going into the pits after the driver over
revved the engine.
@BGatesIsaPyscho@grok There are still losers like you with this is "faked" stuff?
China & India have both snapped pics of the Apollo
Landing sites. China has NO reason to prove the
US did it. Quit bothering people with your stupidity.
@Retromania4ever I am lucky to have seen all of them at their peak.
For me it's Ayrton. I saw all of them do amazing things but
he more times than any other I asked: "How did he
do that!!?"
@DRFLivingston I always loved this guy.
I remember in the Preakness not only did
he have to survive the speed duel- going into the race
he was supposed to have a slow workout but caught
sight of another horse ahead and blazed a too
fast work time! He was unique. ๐๐
@theTDN@TheNYRA@BillFinley3 Thanks for posting this so I know how dumb
it really is. Here's some numbers the jocks & NYRA
should focus on. NYRA Handle 2024-$2.1 billion
but if you take what it would be as on-track handle
it would be maybe $1.4b?
1970 on-track: $735 million-adjusted inflation
$6.1 billion
@RepoleStable@TheUFL "Change isnโt a risk, staying the same is"
This will be etched on racings headstone.
As a 50+ year fan, I have watched them behave
the same as when they had a legal monopoly
on gambling. They have not had a clue since
as to what to do.
@ThruTheBridle I'm not saying one way or the other the reasons
for this. However, just to pass along a nice betting angle:
Don't ever discount a son or grandson of the wonderful
Curlin improving from 3y/o to 4y/o. You can cash some
nice bets.
@TomRyanKY It is a good movie. I understand the inaccuracies of
certain parts but every movie makes allowances.
If you are interested in a Horse Racing movie not
mentioned by many try "The Rainbow Jacket".
@BrightInsight6 I think Japanese engineers figured out how they
placed the huge, angled stones at the top perfectly in place without them cracking by using sand.
It was really clever.
@agentes305 He had an impossible task in the BC being
3y/o bred in S.A., I hope they run him sparingly &
towards the end of his 4y/o season.
He's behind the 8 ball until he's 5.
@Paddock_Prince Aqueduct because I believe it will be the last time
I play NYRA in the winter (which I love) as they are going to Synth after this season. I absolutely hate that stuff.
