@HighwaysSWEST@ASPolice Do Highways have any plans to put up suicide fencing on the bridges to prevent this from happening? Cheap solution to really solve the issue, for the people struggling and the drivers stuck every time this happens, also takes the load off the emergency services. Everyone wins
@HighwaysSWEST 90 minutes? had a driver sat in the traffic since 11:40 and they are still a mile from junction 24. I make that over 150 minutes and a mile still to go
This dashcam footage shows a trailer disintegrating - and shedding what appears to be fridges on to the #M5. Traffic had to be stopped on the northbound carriageway at Junction 11 on Sunday 29 September 2024, causing six miles of congestion.
@JeffBurton Hey Jeff, in Europe flat bottomed sports cars used to get airborne when they spun around. They now have vented wheel wells, just a big hole on top of the fenders, so the air cannot pack into them and make the car fly. Maybe NASCAR could do that?
@mrdanwalker I always cover mine with a tarp each night and have cctv watching it. It’s amazing how rude people are, I’ve had kids trying to take a pair of brakes discs out of the skip in between me putting a load of stuff into it, cheeky blighters!
@Tallish_LH You mean “my road car can drive in these conditions “ shows how the average person doesn’t understand race cars or “wet” tyres. The tyres over the years have become less effective as lap speeds have increased and tyre manufacturers know cars race in less wet conditions these days
@DC_RPT It’s a bit low rider at the back, kind of gives it away it might be a bit heavy. These vans are pretty heavy unloaded these days, add the tail lift and there isn’t a lot of weight left for goods. 8% over weight would add quite a bit of stopping distance and heat into the brakes
@WiltsSpecOps It would be good if the good folks at Dover or Folkestone stopped these trucks from coming into the country, everyone knows they are over weight. No excuse for them being here.
@SomersetWaste Bridgwater. I reported it to Highways and within the hour they came out with absorbent material and mopped it up. It just very poor that the crew left it like that.
@SomersetWaste Your bin lorry spilled oil all over the road and after pointing at it and having a discussion your operatives just left it and drove off. No #environmentalhazard here! #Thanks!
This, is incredibly annoying for many. (I was planning to go today)
But when you have cars on 20ft high statues and awnings everywhere. We’d all be lining up with the ‘reckless’.,‘Why didn’t somebody think’ etc. If it went tragically wrong.
This is actually a brave, (not to mention costly) decision by Goodwood. IMHO
@James_Bailey@isowman@smartmotorways Apart from the fact that most car drivers are too stupid to read and understand how to use smart motorways. It’s not the motorways fault, simple observation skills solve most driving issues we have in this country
Agree with this - there needs to be a real push to improve the overall standard of driving, including a focus on those who drive in a dangerous way.
Equally, improvements to the standard of cycling and even walking are needed - and we need our streets rid of illegal e-scooters.
A huge thank you to the many volunteers. Without them there would be no racing. There are over 2000 working at the Le Mans Centenary.
