Exactly one year ago today, @netnose and I kicked off a mini app experiment, to see if a little bit of speculative serendipity could create real distribution and opportunity for builders and creators on @base.

That experiment was @betrmint, and today is our BETR Birthday!

It’s been a whirlwind of a year, to say the least.

⚡️ $50,000 airdropped to loyal users (and more being dropped this week!)

Somewhere along the way, this stopped being an experiment and became something of a movement.

And in a space where a year is an eternity, where countless projects have come and gone, we’re still here. Still iterating. Still experimenting. Still tinkering with what it means to help creators and founders earn for their creativity onchain.

Year one had a lot of triumphs. We were honored to win the $25K top prize for Live Mini Apps during Base Onchain Summer, and to get selected for Base Batches (Startup Track), which took us all the way to Argentina in the fall.

We’ve collaborated with just about every @farcaster_xyz -native project under the sun. Shout out @darkohh and $RUNNER (perpetual first), @nazimahmed, @AzFlin, and many, many more. We are all BETR when we work together. 💪

Somehow through all of it, we’ve built what we genuinely believe is one of the strongest token communities onchain, powered by an army of BETR believers and a stalwart Chief Fun Officer @burrrrrberry who always keeps things entertaining, no matter the market.

BETRMINT isn’t just about spinning and winning. It’s about giving creators a new way to get discovered. It’s about shared upside. It’s about winning together.

To everyone who has supported us since day one… Thank you, sincerely.

That goes for all the faithful community members who have been spinning and staking and winning with us daily, as well as our S-tier ecosystem partners at @buildonbase (s/o @davidtsocy, @ZacPrater, @carlosjmelgar, @jessepollak) and Farcaster (s/o @lindaxie, @JackDishman, @rish_neynar.)

Extremely honored and excited to announce that @betrmint has been selected to receive $10,000 in grants from the inaugural funding round of the @clanker_world Ecosystem Fund (CEF), enabled by @rish_neynar and stewarded by @ProfWerder and @age_shulman.

We were awarded both an $8,000 Builder Grant and a $2,000 Activation Grant.

It’s not always easy to keep your head down and continue building through the ups and downs of this space, so this recognition feels incredibly validating for @netnose and I regarding the impact BETRMINT and its community have had across the Farcaster ecosystem.

This funding gives us additional runway to keep iterating, experimenting, and improving the app for our community, all while making @farcaster_xyz and @base a BETR place for creators and founders alike.

We already have some pretty fun ideas brewing for the Activation Grant too, which should help bring even more art to the timeline this summer, so stay tuned! 👀

The @clanker_world Ecosystem is Refueling 🛩️

We are so excited to share the announcement of round 1 of the Clanker Ecosystem Fund grants!

Huge thank you to @gmfarcaster for all of their work making this vision a reality.

The Clanker Ecosystem Fund has created 4 categories of grant awards:

BUILDER GRANTS: For projects that have demonstrated sustained contribution, execution, and ecosystem impact. These are often larger grants because they reward proven work rather than speculative ideas.

SUSTAINABILITY GRANTS: For smaller community projects, tools, media, or cultural contributions that make the ecosystem better. Some projects simply need enough support to continue existing. These grants may fund: infrastructure costs (APIs, hosting, etc), design costs, content or media creation costs, tooling maintenance

FRESH CLANK GRANTS: Smaller grants intended to recognize projects that created energy, attention, or momentum within the ecosystem recently. These grants exist to encourage people to build, experiment, and ship publicly without feeling like they need years of history before receiving recognition.

ACTIVATION GRANTS: These may be awarded along with one of the other categories of awards. Activation Grants : Small-to-medium grants intended to spark specific activity, events, or short-term ecosystem initiatives. These are intentionally temporary and outcome-oriented.

Starting with BUILDER GRANTS: the CEF is recognizing 3 projects in this category and we are also including ACTIVATION GRANTS for each of these grantees as well. All three have been long term builders in the ecosystem and have driven attention to both Clanker and @farcaster_xyz via their apps. (@gmfarcaster will be sharing more about every project in separate posts at a later time)
