@naomicfisher A group of five of us came together to make a complaint about our MAT...three of our children are out the school now, the others remaining have been threatened... We all have EHCPs and have approached SENDIASS, yet there seems to be nothing we can do to protect our children.
To celebrate the release of The Healing Relational Trauma Workbook next week I am giving away one copy. Follow, like and retweet for a chance to win. International okay. Winner announced end of February.
@naomicfisher Since leaving his SEN school, which repeatedly subjected my anxious son to the treatment you describe, my son says he now feels mentally taller as he no longer feels crushed by the actions of senior management.
@SouthernRailUK 2/2 part of London with no advice on the onward journey. Two trains and a bus latter, we were home after 23.30. Platform staff at Norwood Junction were great, but dumping a train load of people inc families and teenagers on a different train line is irresponsible and unsafe.
@SouthernRailUK We were on the delayed 21:52 to Streatham Common, due in at 22:06. All indications and advice from staff were that this was running normally. Once everyone was on the train, it was diverted to Norwood Junction with no advice about the onward journey. We were in an unfamiliar 1/2
@RachelFairfiel1@MrAlCoates Yes, I feel the voice of traumatised young people was missing today, not all have amazing birth mums like those on the panel. The young man did bravely speak about this, but the rest of the speakers did not acknowledge this aspect.
@HLucas8@_LisaCherry This is tricky too... I'm told about support being in place, meet staff, told they use PACE etc...then months later my son eventually says how it really is; when parents got together to share experiences, private conversations were copied and shared at EHCP reviews by school....
@ChildrensComm Sounds like you're planning to discriminate against C&YP needing to access services during the day that schools don't provide & putting pressure on C&YP with additional needs... and what about the 'persistently absent' label, it's not helpful. Put children & young people first...
@naomicfisher very disturbing aim... does the CC really not have a clue about the mental health needs of young people and children and listening to them and how they want to learn.
@KitdeWaal That period of time roughly covers my brother's lifetime, sadly a life he did his best to live with little support for his epilepsy and LD until SUDEP. Happy to be DM'd.
@ChildrensComm ...then let's listen to families when they seek help for their children's mental health needs and request accommodations in school so their emotional well being can thrive.
@PACTenquiries@ChildrensComm Yes...so many young people feel overwhelmed, alone and distressed in school; and by social media. Why isn't this being reported by the CC's research?
@ASMU_Sendplight ...very interesting. Makes me wonder, is that why so many of my child's teachers, for whom timeliness, organisation, a certain type of 'hard work' is a mantra, feel so powerless with my child and then respond with draconian sanctions to regain that sense of control...
@ASMU_Sendplight ...and then you get into the 'special' school and realise there is little that is special and the EHCP leaves your child trapped there....
@thewoodbug@MsJoBillington ...although also, whenever our SEN school drops the ball, they push 'the threat of exclusion / this isn't the right provision' button very quickly to put parents on the back foot instead of feeling confident enough to challenge the inadequate provision leading to the incident...
@thewoodbug@MsJoBillington It does seem to be badly written & not picking up on the unmet needs of children. It is frustrating that journalists just trot out the poor behaviour mantra, when often what schools are trying to deal with is children with high levels of anxiety, sensory overload etc
