Habitat loss threatens migratory #shorebirds of the East Asian-Australasian Flyway, which now often inhabit wastewater ponds. Are these ideal habitats for the #birds, or are they a health risk to already declining species? #ornithology

No significant differences in average adult local survival between habitats, but average juvenile local survival was lower at the wastewater ponds for both species. This could be due to mortality or emigration to other habitats.
Congrats to Toby Ross and @MarsKlaassen for the first paper addressing contaminants in Australian shorebirds.
