Popular music studies titan Philip Tagg passed away peacefully yesterday. I have taught his material for years and it's been nice hearing colleagues remember him. RIP

@kwhitehouse@MerriamWebster I’ve always felt the same thing, feeling like the name of the movie was meant to evoke the idea of learning about something (though I think Abe and Aaron learn the hard way). Ok, I know it's a bit late right now, but I'm gonna try to share this here! I made an account on fiverr and uploaded my first gig! If you're a filmmaker and need someone to write a script, HMU! https://t.co/R2ogDmC09E
@keithkothman @ZerbinettasBlog@aksocolofsky FWIW, I am currently at the NASM annual meeting in Scottsdale, where Omar Thomas’ keynote address about an hour ago included, among other things, an admonition to not consider literacy in western notation as a prerequisite. The address was met with a prolonged standing ovation.
AMS/SMT folks: Denver has a great light rail system! You can take the train from the airport to Union Station for $10.50 and then take the free MallRide bus from Union Station down 16th street to the Sheraton. You can even buy tickets on your phone! https://t.co/A2E0gxw4C5
