Maybe we should reserve the term “task force” for groups that actually accomplish tasks powerfully?
“Task force” is one of those phrases where the derived meaning has little to do with the individual words themselves.
A task is a discrete component of work.
Force is mass times acceleration.
Put the words together and it sounds like you’re accomplishing something powerfully.
