@RadioFreeTom Oof, do you know the kinds of storm you're brewing before you hit send or do they catch you by surprise? This most recent one is be more intense than I was expecting it to be.
@SonnyBunch I graduated college in '02 and I still have this dream on a regular basis. The relief I feel upon waking up and realizing it's not real is unbelievable.
@strobist I share this trick with everyone! Also the plastic adjustment slides. I'm 3 foam replacements to my 9 yo Sony NC headphones which will be pried from my cold dead hands.
@KEGates@Timodc@ezraklein I spent 10 minutes searching and yelling at the universe THIS IS THE WORST NAMED BOOK EVER because hundreds of things were coming up just nothing I wanted lol . Glad I was able to help at least 1 other person :-)
@RadioFreeTom I'm not sure Biden lost any voters last night but people seem to miss the fact that he needed to GAIN with the debates or this isn't going to work.
@wpbuilds@vegasgeek@MarcBenzak Nathan, that's awesome! I also am used to reading way more than I have in recent years. Diving back in the last couple years has been a real joy. I'm reflexively so happy for you
@wpbuilds@vegasgeek@MarcBenzak No games, no insta, no tiktok, my reading rate shot up -dramatically-
Basically anytime I'm pulling out my phone I'm glancing at Twitter or pulling up my most recent book. It helps I'm all e-book now as well. I miss paper books but I can't beat the convenience.
@jb510@AmyMasson Yeah, this really feels like what killed it. All the weird rules and excessive limitations just ripped the fun out of it. Who wants to do what is effectively a labor of love when it feels like somebody is actively throwing sand in the gears?
@Timodc@stephenfhayes ...and it just keeps going. I'm with @RadioFreeTom on this there is what you want, and there is reality. And I don't think Hayes is viewing this in reality. Someone vs anarchy? I endorse someone. We can support AND be critical but Hayes has crossed that boundary IMO
@Timodc@stephenfhayes The most infuriating podcast you've done yet. In a good way. There's a reason I listen to the Bulwark and that is to balance my internal nature. But jesus, listening to Stephen Hayes was killing me. Thank you for being the measured voice. Grade D, my fat, wide ass...
@Timodc@amandacarpenter I told my wife I was listening to a pod with @Timodc & @amandacarpenter , smart, I love them, but they didn't know the aspirin/knees contraception thing and I was shocked. Are we just super old? And she said "What aspirin thing" so, not as common as thought.
@tomgrin @RadioFreeTom The rug is a discontinued Ikea area rug (I wanted a couple more when I moved and they were history) and the leather chair is something I found for 20 bucks in the local Goodwill which is to this day my most favorite thrift store find
@_brian_s@RadioFreeTom Lol easily my biggest conversation starter especially when people of a certain age come to my house. The best part is that it is actually converted to work with regular phone lines not that I have one of those anymore.
@AngelaDoesThat@estockbridge 1) I'm totally adopting this and b) it reminds me of when my 7yo couldn't come up with "wrist" and instead said "arm ankle". They're in college now and I still think of this on a regular basis.

Also known as the number I use for any rewards card that let's me type a number to get the discount. Try it in your local area code, it'll probably work!
@RadioFreeTom Had one, loved it until they stopped updating the software after 2 years. Had to add a dedicated Roku to it which felt wasteful and stupid.

Applying my estimate math for when I think I know how much code something is going to take. We'll see if writing words and writing code is similar. I find it interesting no one's guessing lower than your estimate.
