If Vietnam is to remain on the path to socialism, it must objectively scrutinize its own contradictions; not manufacture new classes/generations of pseudo-enemies that distract us from the resolving our material and institutional contradictions.
In Vietnam, the politicization of Gen Z is already producing its own antithesis. What begins as a demand for accountability around an unresolved death is increasingly recoded as a problem of Gen Z itself: a potential threat to order and legacy.
Today marks the end of Saigon Economic Times (1975-2026), Vietnam’s premier economics magazine. Before being shut down, Pham The Anh, an economist, warned of Vietnam’s chronic real estate-credit driven growth model, whose problems are no less severe than China’s.

@HeroBlackKnight@kage_urufu@DzLe77 I think this is also true of families in VN. I have seen children of VK families in Vietnam contribute to the country & understand the aims of revolution; I have also seen children of revolutionary families disregard revolutionary commitments and engage in corruption.
@HeroBlackKnight@kage_urufu@DzLe77 All VN families are complicated & full of contradictions. Our house was split by war with political commitments either revolutionary or reactionary/liberal or nonexistent. This is not uncommon.
@DzLe77@kage_urufu Not that simple. They require your parents or grandparents to acquire or recover Vietnamese citizenship before you receive your passport, despite showing original birth certificates.
@CNMNguyen I recommend reading Susan Buck Morris’s HEGEL AND HAITI in relation to this matter. France was the site where the contradiction of universalism and empire became most visible. US and Japan seemed to be sites of ideological exceptionalism and technocratic modernity.
