Agentic commerce already has good tech but the demand is missing.
@nlevine19 from @a16zcrypto on the latest episode of Tokenized with @sytaylor and @bamazizimesh said:
βThere hasn't been a significant amount of demand for agentic commerce because people don't know what they wanna buy, they don't know what they wanna build.β
The next stage is agents deciding the intent themselves, running 24/7, funded by humans but no longer directed by them.

Cards stay the front end. Stablecoins take over the back end.
@nlevine19 from @a16zcrypto made this point on the latest episode of Tokenized with @sytaylor and @bamazizimesh
Visa and Mastercard have been doing stablecoin settlement for a while, and volumes have jumped. Most of that has just made life easier for issuers and crypto-friendly acquirers.
βWhat Visa does is authorize the movement of money and build a trust and reputation network around the authorization of the movement of money.β

We make about two transactions a day on average right now. Agentic commerce could push that into hundreds of billions of transactions a day.
@bamazizimesh made the point on the latest episode of Tokenized with @sytaylor and @a16zcrypto's @nlevine19.
"But I don't believe mainframes are going to stay around."
Visa and Mastercard can adapt to that volume. What disappears, according to Bam, is the network underneath them, the 70-year-old card rail model, replaced by stablecoins.

AI coding tools created a new kind of merchant.
A developer using Codex or Cloud Code to build something is often also the person selling that thing.
Stripe and Shopify once turned ordinary people into online sellers. The same shift is happening again, this time for AI tools and agent-built products.
These transactions run at a different scale, global and often tiny in value, and traditional payment networks were not built for that.
Bam Azizi (Mesh) on Tokenized with host Simon Taylor said that gap is exactly where stablecoins and blockchain rails start to make sense.

Stablecoins are creating new possibilities for on-chain foreign exchange.
On a recent episode of the @TokenizedPod, Tetra Digital Group CEO Didier Lavallee joined Cuy Sheffield (@Visa), Noah Levine (@a16z), and Eric Queathem (Velocity) to discuss the future of stablecoin payments and the role local currency stablecoins can play in cross-border transactions.
One area of focus for the conversation was how on-chain FX can streamline cross-border payments by enabling efficient conversion between local currency stablecoins.
For businesses, that could mean lower FX costs, faster settlement, and greater automation. Growing liquidity will be key to unlocking these benefits at scale.
Stablecoins are just accessible to anyone no matter what size business you are.
@cnaut (co-founder @raincards), in conversation with co-host @sytaylor and @cuysheffield said:
Large global businesses like MoneyGram already built treasury systems for this. They've automated intercompany transfers and priced them down at scale.
Small businesses who want to operate internationally, stablecoin accessibility gives them an edge.

Who's launching with stablecoins has completely changed in the last 12 months.
It started with neobanks: stablecoin first, global by default.
Then GENIUS brought in the traditional fintechs and institutions.
Now companies like @MoneyGram are using stablecoins to rethink their entire business.
@cnaut on @TokenizedPod with @sytaylor, @cuysheffield, Luke Tuttle, and Darko Hajdukovic.
I always worry when a company in financial services grows a bit too fast.
Because fast growth often (but doesn't always) mean you actually have a massive fraud or compliance issue.
I think the newest crop of regulated charter holders get this, and the demand for what they do is coming more from wholesale than retail.
New bank charters used to be a 20 year drought. The last one was BMW Financial Services. They are back now!
@cuysheffield, in conversation with co-host @sytaylor and guests Luke Tuttle (@MoneyGram), @cnaut (@raincards), and Darko Hajdukovic (@LSEplc), said:
βIt was a 20 year drought of a new bank. I mean that's pretty incredible. It's awesome that the OCC now there is a path to have charters.β
Talented teams rebuilding regulated banks from first principles is what pushes the whole industry forward.

Growing insanely fast in financial services is a bit worrying.
@sytaylor, in conversation with co-host @cuysheffield alongside Luke Tuttle (@MoneyGram), @cnaut (@raincards), and Darko Hajdukovic (@LSEplc), said:
βThe guaranteed way to grow fastest is to have the worst compliance regime and just let all of the fraudsters in and create a sanctions nightmare.β

"This is the best example of these two worlds coming together, and I think it's going to be what the space needs to get to the next level of adoption."
@cuysheffield on @TokenizedPod discussing the @zerohash x @Marqeta partnership. π
Most financial instruments are already digital. That part isn't new.
Darko Hajdukovic (Head of Digital Markets Infrastructure, LSEG) on Tokenized with our hosts Simon Taylor and Cuy Sheffield said:
"The new thing here isn't that it's digitally represented. It is that you can now do things which you couldn't do before."
Round the clock settlement and activity on public chains are the kind of things that becomes possible once DIGIT and the LSE move onto shared DLT infrastructure.
Everything discussed here, DIGIT included, is subject to regulatory approval.
