On that note, another crazy link I kept to myself so far relates to Chandrasekhara Saraswati Mahaswami of Kanchi & Sadguru Samarth Ramadas! Let me recount it today. * * * A priest with crazy intuition used to visit our home with Anna (Swami Sathasivom - head priest of Chennai Kalikambal temple) many years back. An example of his intuition/subtle vision: He came to our house once when I was meditating and asked me after I stopped, "you were meditating on so and so form of Shiva, right?" He was correct and it's not even a form I normally worshiped (I'm more of a devotee of divine Mother & Narayana), i.e. it had a very low probability if it was a random guess. * * * One day, he went into a kind of trance and said, "today I'll tell you your janma rahasyam (birth secret). You are born for an important work and Chandrasekhara Saraswati Mahaswami is behind your birth. He came to your town before your birth and blessed your parents to get you as a child." Mind you, this was well before I did my first homa or created the first homa manual. He then asked me to check if Mahaswami came to my town a couple of years before my birth. I checked and found out that he indeed came to Machilipatnam 2.5 years before my birth!! I was also shocked to learn his link with reviving my childhood temple! * * * Sadguru Samarth Ramdas, guru of Shivaji Maharaj and believed to be an amsa of Hanuman, established several Hanuman temples across south India. One of them, a Suvarchala-Sameta-Anjaneya-Swamy temple (i.e. Hanuman accompanied by his consort Suvarchala), was 1/4 mile from where I was born & brought up. I used to go there regularly in my childhood. But it was a forgotten temple when Mahaswami came, with no pujas taking place. During that visit, Mahaswami got up in the middle of a night and said, "Swami is calling us. He's hungry. Let us go." He walked far & took out a murthi from bushes! He lit a lamp, offered naivedyam & told the locals, "you MUST light a lamp & offer naivedyam to this Hanuman everyday. This is a very powerful temple established by Shivaji's guru & time has come for it to become famous again." By the time I was born, a structure was established. As I grew up, the temple became bigger & bigger. Thousands used to throng it every Tuesday, by the time I was in college. * * * See, a temple established by Sadguru Samarth Ramdas & revived by Chandrasekhara Saraswati Mahaswami, was key to my spiritual upbringing - I grew up visiting it and worshiping Hanuman regularly. Especially Hanuman there is accompanied by consort Suvarchala (daughter of Sun - personifying the brightness of Sun, who, shastras say, is fed by the fire rituals people do on earth). And, I was born in the lineage of Peshwa Moropant Pingle, who was Shivaji's Prime Minister. And, I ended up going to a temple, where Shivaji was specifically sent by Sadguru Samarth Ramdas before a major war, to undertake a week-long ritual with a specific sankalpa to benefit Mahaswami's religious heir (see https://t.co/si04ZDqgxk)! And, darshan and command of Devi to Mansih @mmpandit during that week ended up giving birth to the DIY Homa Movement & slowly many many spiritual seekers are getting into regular homa practice! And this movement is really great for a renaissance in a key part of Sanatana Dharma. * * * That may well be the "important work" for which I was brought by Mahaswami per the priest's intuition. I don't really know. BTW, Sri Nakhate Maharaj (Manish's guru), who is from the spiritual lineage of Sri Vasudevananda Saraswati (also known as Tembe Swami), was known to Mahaswami. The play of rinas and Divine Will is very strange and deep and we cannot fathom it all. Saints like Mahaswami likely knew every thing and, operating as jeevanmuktas, directed portions of God's play on earth. But people like us don't know it all. Yet we can play useful roles in the play, if we are humble, sincere and selfless! * * * I normally keep things like this to myself, but wanted to record this one once in writing for posterity. Things like this can be ego-boosters, not only for me, but for others who like/follow me!! Instead of focusing on the teachings, many people these days tend to focus on personalities & useless fandom. My mission is NOT to accumulate personal admirers, but to enable more and more people to discover the pleasure of the company of Agni Deva & get them into Homa as a spiritual sadhana! 🙏🔥🕉🔥🙏 * * * BTW, the priest with great intuition whom I mentioned, was identified, given diksha & trained as a priest, by legendary Sivacharya Sri Sambamurthy Sivachariar (father of Anna - Swami Sathasivom). He was a simple & pure soul not skilled in (or bothered about) worldly matters & hence Anna's father asked Anna to look after him till his end (Anna did & Siddhanatha Gurukkal is no more). Final note: Mahaswami is known to have identified several such hidden jewels of temples and revived them. He wasn't called a "walking god" for no reason! 🙏🙏
