@gm2112rush@Meteb7411@HeathrowAirport You can, it's just a matter of how much you're willing to spend. Generator companies can prop up the power grid of a small country, but it's a lot to pay if it's a rare event and you've got fallback option, e.g. all the other London airports.
@NotSeaLarson I don't see much evidence that the truth does prevail on its own. With no restrictions, it becomes a case of who can shout in the loudest, particularly in online forums where support can be faked and reach paid for.
@MartinSLewis On the other hand, entertainment isn't just entertainment. Kids TV contains developmental/educational content. Panel shows increase current affairs awareness in a more engaging way than pure news. Satire is a public outlet for anti-government views.
@MartinSLewis I don't watch TV, so don't have a licence, but I still use BBC News and the occasional podcast or radio in the car.
The core segment of news and radio should be from general taxation, imo.
I'm not sure how to deal with TV production - EastEnders is hardly vital.
@willchamberlain@FRHoffmann1@Martin_Sauer It's simple. American companies In America can do all the American things they want.
If they also want to serve EU customers, they need to play by EU rules. If they don't want to do that, they're free to not deal with the EU market and withdraw.
@pudgenet@FRHoffmann1@Martin_Sauer You're assuming that no moderation is the default. Just because we can't perfectly moderate, that doesn't mean we should moderate nothing.
Uncontrolled free speech is just as dangerous as overreaching censorship.
@2guthu_Go@Icepick87 You only need to close the airspace In the populated areas in the West of Russia. Admittedly, that's most of it, but tough luck, that's a price of going to war.
@MikeAda40676830@molly0xFFF@Glinner I've just had a quick read and it seems pretty reasonable. It discusses the criticisms of his behaviour but also his rebuttals.
As someone in the UK, a lot of the examples given are indeed transphobic and being transgender is a legally protected characteristic.
@readwithai@molly0xFFF E.g. for sub-saharan Africa they note issues like articles not being considered notable (presumably by Western reviewers) and IP block lists often blocking addresses of sub-saharan editors, stopping them contributing. Makes sense.

@readwithai@molly0xFFF As such, to try and get more global involvement it sounds like they're trying to get every region of the world to have the high-level management structure, presumably admins etc. Its not something I'd thought about before but sounds very important now I think about it.
@CoachDriverHugh@MikeyCycling I generally support him but there's clearly very little risk here. The vehicle is stationary and isn't about to have to pull away suddenly like at lights.
