@allgoodcopy@UrgentClickHere Oh absolutely. Appreciate 'valuable learning opportunity' may have made me sound like a motivational TED Talk/LinkedIn guru, but we all get feedback that just makes us want to put our head through a wall.
Had this exact conversation recently. In the right circumstances even frustrating, exhausting feedback can be a valuable learning opportunity. If language wasn't nuanced, and if the nuances weren't important, copywriters wouldn't exist.
There's a natural urge to become frustrated while reviewing legal notes on copy. But it's actually a useful reminder of the subtleties of language, how difficult it is to write clearly and a complete justification of why the world needs copywriters #copywritersunite
When writing copy you *have* to understand what your audience. What are they thinking about (hopes, dreams, fears, concerns...)? These Timberland show what we mean.
1. I'm assuming they've gone for 'eastern cluster' because 'Eastern Bloc' was already taken.
2. 20 Fenchurch St's sky garden was a disingenuous planning-sweetener. Hope the new terraces are different.
3. 'Undershaft' is still funny, Eric Parry or no Eric Parry. #londonproperty https://t.co/S2euNH2usl
@DropCapCopy@Honda You can literally hear the agency meeting where someone had to say "Yeah, so Janet from Honda just doesn't think it's clear enough that the gas kicks in *to allow the car to keep running* guys."
@tom_teepee@davetrott SFX: Sound of presentation board being bent in two. Markers thrown at wall.
Damn you Tom Pritchard!
Oh well, back to the drawing board...
Advertising polarised - either completely disdainful of rhyme, or throwing everything at campaigns where weather-beaten, soft-spoken northern men spout doggerel about coming home from a hard day's work to an open fire, a homely wife and some Cathedral City. https://t.co/tZ8nqcjjpQ
