@LittleNemo1905 To continue - your obsession with treating Impie fairly detracts from the art and the reality of the times. No need to lecture and focus on a time that hasn't caught up to today (although, even Today's world is no further along I admit). Otherwise enjoying your comments :)
@LittleNemo1905 Thought I'd catch up on your comments - what is annoying is your wokeness.....you're so worried about the 1920's treatment of Impie that it becomes obnoxious and deters from the artistic endeavor. Yeah yeah, totally racist and condescending stuff going on - but get over it
@LittleNemo1905 Fabulous dream transition from the bedroom (which we see more of in panel 1) to Slumberland. This is a fantastic episode and wonderful graphics.
@LittleNemo1905@AlexxKay When I saw Impie come out in that nightshirt I literally cracked up. And, as mentioned, this change of costume on him is truly a rarity. As far as who the culprit was I had no doubt it was Blutch from the start.
@LittleNemo1905 Another "early recall" in this strip is the method of arrival. In the final frame they are once again at the "doorstep" of a new space/place and approaching an event that promises to unfold and reveal itself - next week - majestically so.
@LittleNemo1905 Whoa! Just arrived to 1924. I was unaware McCay picked it back up again. I hunted for high rez images and discovered they're not in public domain. Any suggestions where to find best images? Books? And so refreshing "to be back".
@LittleNemo1905 And that’s why I believe your project is succeeding. It does pull in a variety of perceptions and thought. ...and I’ve been enjoying it. Thanks.
@LittleNemo1905 I think you’re letting the “ other issues” cloud your view of these strips. Me being older, raised in the (shall we say) less sensitive 50’s-60’s, I can understand then vs now - and tho these strips had influence it’s still up to one’s own values in the end.
@AlexxKay@LittleNemo1905@pfxbryan I noticed the fireman helmet as well. I think Flip simply gets a kick out of a different accessory...it’s his hat of the moment.
@LittleNemo1905 On separate note - this Episode is #336 while #335 was two episodes ago skipping the first flute episode (which I am unable to see in this Twitter series.
@LittleNemo1905 Note, for what I believe is a first, the dream (Flip) infringes on the final wake-up panel. Eve The waking Nemo seems to recognize such.
Also note that after Impie is done playing the fairies are gone but the Candy Kids remain - I,too, think they are miscolored
@LittleNemo1905 Also, what a great sequence delivered in tossing out Flip - out the door and into the scuttle which “flips” him into the pool of ink.
I accept the ink (in lieu of tar) as its immediate association (tool of his craft) to McCay. We’ve seenmany references as such
@LittleNemo1905 Check out Flip in panel 2. He uncharacteristically looks right at “us”, the readers, to make his comment. A real intimate moment that Flip shares with his audience. A breaking of the “fourth wall”. This by far my favorite moment so far in the Hearst series.
