The British troops I fought with in Afghanistan saved American lives. The Royal Engineers drove straight into Taliban territory taking small arms fire, creating a new path so we didn't have to walk over the dozens of IEDs laying in wait. Operation Dragon Strike couldn't have happened without them.
They were professional to the core and it was an honor to fight alongside them 🇺🇸🤝🇬🇧
Absolutely gutted to read this. Peter always had an arm around me from my young days at the club, full of advice and encouragement all the way into my time as GK coach at the club. You’ll be missed, Peter. 🟢⚫️
Burgess Hill Town Football Club are devastated to announce the passing of our Club President Peter Miles, a truly wonderful football man.
The gentlest of giants who touched the lives of so many at our football club, and across Sussex.

Words cannot explain how proud of you I am. Everyone wrote you off but you’ve proved them all wrong. Words cannot explain how proud of you I am! #ProudestUncle
Perhaps when you have a moment today, have a quiet thought for the men of the Ox and Bucks, glider pilots, and RAF crew at Tarrant Rushton airfield. 80 years ago this evening, they took off for their assault on Pegasus Bridge. Landing just after midnight, they took the bridge 🫡
On the eve of battle, 80 years ago. Operation Overlord was about to begin. The vanguard.
They dropped from the flak filled skies, 7,000 highly trained troops of the British 6th Airborne Division paved the way for the liberation of Europe.
Surrounded and vastly outnumbered, they fought on for 82 days in non stop front line action.
From the bridges of the Caen Canal, the assault on the heavily fortified Merville Battery and the break out to the River Seine, the 6th Airborne Division fought hard as the spearhead of the allied invasion forces.
Losses were sobering. 542 killed. 1,623 wounded. 725 missing. Almost one man in five was a casualty.
We will remember them 🇬🇧

Everyone wants to be excellent at something up until they realise what’s really involved.
They overwhelmed at what it takes and the slow progress
Funny thing is, it really comes down to two simple things; Commitment & Consistency.
Keep showing up, regularly.
