The playoff picture in the AL is a classic example of why MLB should re-seed in the playoffs round to round. As it stands now:
Tampa Bay would play the winner of the Red Sox-Yankees wildcard series. Those are the three best teams in the AL.
On the other side of the bracket, the White Sox would play the winner of the Guardians-Astros series, with one of those teams advancing to the ALCS.
With replay, we've all gotten so comfortable with the concept that justice will always be served on every borderline call. Truth is, sometimes they still don't go your way. Sometimes you still end up getting screwed. And dealing with the emotions of that while the game continues.
I said that I thought they got it wrong. I thought it was a catch. I played before Replay. You know how many times I've seen people get screwed with no way to change it? You move on and play. What the hell else are you going to do?
The bad news is the call stands, no catch.
The good news is Rafaela is staying in the outfield after apparently pulling something in his neck. Yankees have two on, no outs in a scoreless seventh.
Join us at 12:30 - you'll hear from Anthony, Story, and Chad Tracy on the difficult conversation he had to have with Mickey Gasper. Biggest game of the year for the surprising Sox. We'll get you ready for it!
Today’s lineup. Anthony and Story both starting for the Red Sox
Anthony DH,
Rafaela CF,
Abreu RF,
Contreras 1B,
Rutschman C,
Durbin 3B,
Duran LF,
Story SS,
Sogard 2B
Red Sox and Yankees are 5-5 against one another w/ 3 games remaining this weekend. Whoever takes 2 of those 3 will hold the playoff tiebreaker which could be massive.
