@TheSaintCentre He gave Martin a tactical masterclass at St Mary’s last season.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@DuncanHolley @tomholland28 There was plenty of pointless sideways football yesterday.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@AlfieHouseEcho Most telling period of the game for me was after we scored. At any other PL ground, with the home side scoring to make it 1-2 with 15 mins to go, the away goal would be under siege. We reverted to type, passed it sideways and posed no threat. Spineless, gutless, clueless.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@AlfieHouseEcho MF our best player by a country mile this season. Baffling decision and the crowd let him know it.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@AlfieHouseEcho We don’t have a full back of that intensity, drive or quality to deliver a ball like that and certainly not a forward with the composure and ability to finish like Tavernier did.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@Two_Pradista As a Saints fan, difficult to disagree.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@SOUFC_JAY This has to stop!!! War in Ukraine has to stop, not a couple of rogue scousers getting lost in the Anfield Rd. end.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@SaintRob__ Terrible at this level but likely to be in Championship team of the season 25-26.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@TheSaintCentre At the moment, I’d take a sausage roll.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@SFCAlfie1885 Fernandes will be long gone.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@L1minus10 Tried to fire up Sulemana? I’m clutching at straws obviously but just think it’s very easy to blame the manager when the truth is that, bar Fernandes and Ramsdale, our squad are a mid Championship side.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@TheSaintCentre Ridiculous. It was as if Terry Paine was coming on.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@AlfieHouseEcho Blame Martin, blame Juric. Neither have covered themselves in glory but systems don’t matter when the players aren’t good enough. Fernandes aside, none of this squad are PL quality. And at the moment, that includes Dibling and Ramsdale. A collective failure from top to bottom.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@EuroExpert_ He’s exceptional. Not underrated at all. I was talking was Roberto Martinez about him recently and he really, really rates him.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@BigJimUTS It doesn’t really work like that. (A) He wouldn’t have come. (B) He’d have had to work with our squad which isn’t as good as Everton’s.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@saintsleom He was poor (along with many others) but no reason to cheer him being substituted. Not a good look for the fans.

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@henrywinter Working with Paddy and @IanDarke scripting weekly TV football shows in the early 2000’s was the greatest education. Paddy’s eye for the story and poetic flourish were a revelation and his charismatic company made many late nights discussing football an utter joy. RIP

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@AlfieHouseEcho I can’t remember the last time we put in a 90 minute performance. Why do we think we can play for 20 min spells and get away with it?

[Tom Hillier @tomhillier]

@JustSaints_ @David_Ornstein Our best performer in pre-season. Why?
