@TheBestTomo Once had a job that decided we had to come in five minutes earlier to count up the tills between every shift. I flat out refused because they weren't paying me for the time.
Ah editing, what an absolute joy it is.
I spent a solid 3 hours writing time today and only added 200 words.
I guess I should be thankful. When I get around to line edits I'll be lucky to add just 200 characters in 3 hours.
I think I might be able to scrape out 90k words total, but definitely not the 100k I was aiming for. No worries, even if I lose 10% in edits I should still be within the expected sci-fi wordcount.
After leaving their broom-closet sized cell on a space ship, my protagonists get to experience an oubliette, prison, and max sec. Past Tom did not leave me with much leeway for expanding the plot for the second half of this wip.
I think I'm basically done with new scenes for the third quarter of my wip. Turns out there's not a whole lot of room for plot development when the three main characters are all trapped in a cell the size of a broom closet.
Re-reading through my wip, I noticed that at one point I referred to there being "1.21 billion" fragments of code in a computer program.
I couldn't help but giggle at the reference.
Me: writes 2,000 words
Me: shuts everything down and goes to bed
My brain: okay, so you definitely need to do a scene where these two characters meet and here's all the dialogue for it.
I'm available for game writing jobs! I've got a handful of indie gigs under my belt with well over 100k words written between dialogue, decision trees, combat enocounters, lore, and narrative in both video games and TTRPGs.
DM me for a portfolio and references.
So close! I wanted 80k words in the bag by last Thursday but had a less than thrilling writing week.
My plan to use the long weekend to catch up got me within 500 words, and the rest will just have to be rolled up into the next stage.
I had a few hours free and a whole lot of words to write. Sat at computer, door shut, headphones on, phone muted.
Suddenly hit by extreme hay fever symptoms. Except it's raining and all the windows are shut, so either I'm actually falling ill or my brain is trying to trick me.
