Motor learning and skill adaptation requires challenge ro thrive.
Repetition with the purpose of perfecting specific motor patterns leads to less learning and usually crumbles when representative pressure is added.
As a general rule a success rate between 65-80% is to aim for to make sure that students are challenged enough to learn to adapt to realistic pressure.
Individualise by skill level. Beginners may thrive nearer 80 % success early on; experts often need 55-65 % to be truly stretched because their error tolerance is higher.
Adjusting constraints and scaling practice should be done to fit the group.
• Errors < 15 % → information poor practice, minimal adaptation.
• Errors > 40 % → perceptual motor couplings break down, frustration rises.
• Errors 25–35 % → richest information, manageable uncertainty, maximal neuroplastic gain.

No one does “that” in reality 👇
“That is not what a knife stab looks like, this I how it’s done”
“This never happens, this is how it happens …”
If you are told this from your instructor you should question how realistic and representative the system and training that you are engaged in actually are.
Linear thinking where one solution is the correct and only true way is not representative for the chaotic non-linear environment of self defense and fight sports.
Training has to represent the environment where the learner will operate and have to allow them to adapt the learning to any type of knife attack (if that is what’s practiced) to be able to find their own preferred solutions while being adaptable to change when the environment changes.

I often get the question "what is the difference between Hybrid Krav-Maga and Krav Maga", so I put this one together to try to clarify the differences.
In short:
Hybrid Krav-Maga is a non-linear, learner-centered style/approach while traditional Krav Maga is a linear instructor-centered system.

FIGHTING AND SELF DEFENSE SYSTEM
In HKM fighting comes first! When we have a competence in fighting we will have a strong base to build self defense on.
Training has to be representative and realistic to create effectiveness in students and to do that the training has to be uncooperative and unscripted.
This is the reason why we say Fighting and self defense system and not self defense and fighting system.
Keep the blade sharp, follow for more fighting, self-defense and training tips!
