The idea that Buddhist organizations should simply "certify" Buddhist scriptures translated by machine rather than actually do the work themselves should be supremely embarrassing for them.

I wouldn't mind if they wanted to use machine translation to produce new translations: indeed, it's probably a good idea, but the idea that a translation would get the "stamp of approval" from some anonymous committee with few, academic credentials...
