@philsturgeon Nice! We have a few plots at a community garden and did the same with no-dig. It worked really well to suppress the weeds and let us get growing quickly. People who dug over their plots soon had tons of weeds where as ours was manageable. Did the same with a new plot this year.

@mr_james_c I've even had people scream at me while out cycling that I should get out of the road as I don't pay "road tax". I'm sure they do the same to EVs🤦‍♂️. We all just want to get around safely, whether we drive, cycle or walk.

@mr_james_c The harassment and abuse is never acceptable and doesn't help. I hope it calms down and unfortunately is too often the nature of Twitter discourse. "Don't pay tax" is a definite trigger due to how often it's used by anti-cycling folk who just hate cyclists.

@mr_james_c Personally I believe a society where more people are walking/cycling for short journeys is a benefit to us all. Let's be honest though, your original comment about tax that caused backlash was ignorant and is a common anti-cycling trope.

@mr_james_c Why continue when it's dangerous? Most the time it doesn't feel super dangerous, probably due to experience and I try to teach my kids that. Sadly a lot of people I talk to do find it very dangerous so as a society we have a lot of work to do if we want to get more people active.

@jarek_rozanski Even 1 "Cycle in centre of the lane" in that diagram omits the fact it's only recommended in certain scenarios like approaching a junction. Usual reporting to stir up a bit of cyclist hate 😀

@jarek_rozanski 4 makes sense when you see a lot of the "cycle lanes" near me, which are a narrow painted strip that encourage close overtakes most the time. 5 does seem strange in that diagram but I understand that as telling drivers not to overtake then instantly turn (known as a "left hook")

@jedi58 Same here. There are a lot near me that just want to divert cyclists out of the road, or are narrow paints strips that just encourage close passes by drivers.
