I honestly think we need to take a long, hard look at charities. I know it's likely to create a moral backlash but that is why corruption chooses the shield of "charity". It's the first line of deception/defence. "You can't attack this multi billion money laundering operation! They fund a school in Africa! What will happen to that school if you indict the ยฃ500k+ a year salaried CEO?!".
Of course there are legitimate charities that do work hard to make change. But it seems to be the most sinister of practices to use our good nature against us in the way that these bogus charities do. These corrupt parties sully one of our most righteous principles. And charity is a righteous principle as long as it is serving its proper purpose.
@miriam_cates We have parasites that have never paid anything into the system coming from around the globe to leech the benefits system. Can we not talk about this and the massive waste in government spending that goes on. After that, if things are still a mess then we can talk about pensions.
That's a contradiction in terms. They can be British as a nationality but they aren't and can never be English without English ancestry. Even if it's just one parent. If you're Carribbean and marry another Carribbean and have a child born in England you're still not English. This is how it works in every country. I can't become asian just by living in asia.
@miriam_cates A person of working age earning ยฃ13k wouldn't pay much tax because they are on the minimum threshold which is ยฃ12,570. They would pay income tax on ยฃ430 which is roughly ยฃ80 income tax annually on their ยฃ13k income.
Navies are expensive and that's a problem. There are lots of ways to cut corners with the army but you can't have a navy without boats or a airforce without planes and those are the expensive parts. It would be great to have a strong combined military and that is feasible with careful spending. But we have a government that doesn't really like the military existing at all.
Okay. But you can't dismiss all of the points on that one question. Native Americans are distinctly different from white Europeans. And Americans don't try to pretend they are native American if they have no heritage?
English is a distinct ethnicity. I'll run with the polite concept that people can adopt the British nationality but if you infringe on my ethnicity by adding anyone from around the globe into it then I'll be forced to go hardcore ethno-nationalist. I want to be reasonable but there is nothing reasonable about trying to delete my heritage. It's a simple as that.
This is how Labour operates. It leaks and suggests policies it wants to enact and when there is pushback they withdraw the policy. But they only shelve the policy and wait. This time they were shafted with timing of the Paris riots. They are consistently shafted by the rise of centre right parties in Europe. Their desire to rejoin will resurface next time they need to distract from the economic mess.
@bigears1111@JamesMelville White Americans are descended from White Europeans. And America as an example would be the Native Americans being equivalent to the English. Do you want to tell Native Americans that white europeans are more American than they are?
Labour needs a war because a war removes all spending and borrowing limitations. A war allows the most extreme economic policies to pass unhindered. A bonus for Labour is that they get to send all the people who wouldn't vote for them to the front line or to prison. From Labour's perspective going to war is a no-brainer.
@finalbossbsv@JamesMelville "Diversity is our strength" doesn't sound as stupid as "women can have penises". They have played the "ask for 1000 when you only want 100" game.
@Catesby1924 They should be sent to fight but we know they'll make their excuses and if push came to shove they'd run back to their origin countries. Maybe this is Labour's roundabout way of dealing with immigration?
@DaveRichards200@TerraOrBust Yep. But you know that isn't how it would work if rejoin won. That'd be the end of the matter and the question would never be asked again. That's why we have to resist completely.
@Wishfullthinki9 I think they are designed more to encourage Labour than to represent voting intention. I suspect Labour morale is in the pits with doubts creeping in across the party. These polls are really just an internal party strategy with the added benefit of demoralising the opposition.
@Danjsalt I don't get it. I see the street sweepers still but I never see them using the giant vacuum on the drains anymore. I wonder which council directive allows the fleet of road sweepers but refuses to let them unblock drains? To what end?
@benonwine Private businesses have a choice. We all enjoyed seeing Starmer being given the bum's rush by a landlord, right? And the pubs that refused to serve Labour MPs after they enacted punitive taxes on hospitality?
