The part of the remake with the most perf issues is the ship interior part of the level Keyes when both a dozen flood and a dozen covenant are attacking eachother all at the same time with projectiles flying everywhere.

No, over the top non-gameplay impactful interaction details like this trace their roots back to Shenmue and Metal Gear Solid 2. They went out of fashion around mid 7th gen or so.

Lukewarm take but these types of things are what I tend to call "twitter mechanics" - They don't add anything to the actual game and are only worth to be tweeted about once. More work for developers, 500TB download.
