@federalbaseball Hes got legit swing & miss stuff so I think it is worth seeing if he can stop leaving the ball over middle where he gets lit up - problem is Nats are playing in mostly close games so he cant work this out in low leverage situations but I can see him being a legit bullpen piece.
@JoelAlfonsoLA@foxnewspolitics@Nationals You guys are so stupid- you got a Supreme Court ruling stating that private business can discriminate based on their own religious beliefs - good luck with the constitutionality argument!
@Kohen_ofYah@klwoodjr I agree Nunez can & should stay & with improved offensive numbers from Ruiz & Young they don't have 3 defense only anchors in the line-up. But they have to get him on base more for him to be a starter - can he bunt to get on more?
@RICHG00N3R@federalbaseball@Dat2UReturns@SleeperNats@SleeperMLB@TalkNats@klwoodjr The only reason I can think of for the team not already moving him to 2nd is they think it improves his trade value. If you are even considering extending him you've got to see if he is at least good enough to play 2nd & will be mature about it so I don't get the teams approach.
@RICHG00N3R@federalbaseball@Dat2UReturns@SleeperNats@SleeperMLB@TalkNats@klwoodjr The teams pitching is never going to improve if the defense doesn't improve & Nunez & Young are the only elite defenders on the team & neither can hit & its not like the rest of the team is good defensively- it is all below average to poor defenders.
@HubertAmherst@CapitolBaseball His problem is he cant hit righties at all. If he can improve his D he can probably be a platoon guy and the Nats have way too many lefties so that could potentially work.
@federalbaseball He doesn't throw that hard but has a good strikeout rate - seems like he could transition to a bullpen piece when Gray and/or Herz return.
@DarrenShapiro2@DAVEY_FIRED It was his 2nd season in MLB & 1st full season. Most teams would be more than happy w/an elite defender scoring 75 runs ( in under 500 ABs) & stealing 30 bases in the 9 spot on a lousy team. Nats problem isn't Young-it is poor ABs & production at top of lineup that are the issue.
@JasonVorhe34254@federalbaseball If we are going to have catchers who can't hit wouldn't we be better off with Riley Adams who at least has a great arm?
@philcoach@federalbaseball Not smart enough to know if he can be fixed but most good teams keep their payrolls down by converting failed starters into cheap bullpen pieces-Nats appear to have done this with Henry & Lord but Rutledge really fit the profile as a big hard thrower so missed opportunity here.
@VJKapur I dunno-I've been a commissioner for a long time & maybe this hasn't been the right approach but I expect a certain number of rejections & failures so constantly ask for as much as possible hoping to get at least some of what Im seeking. But ANCs dont have much actual power.
@TalkNats There are 5 Jacob's on the field tonight - not quite the 6 Ryan's that set a record for that name in a Nats-Cubs game 20 years ago but still has to be close to a record?
@HubertAmherst@Adams71D@Evan_P_Grant Was also his problem with the Nats-never put guys away even when he got ahead - he seemed to have a weird issue where he'd get ahead & then guys would foul off a bunch of pitches & work an 8 or 9 pitch walk. He was a consistent 20 pitch per inning guy even in great starts.
@FrankTheTank454@yabogellan If Caps bring back Ovi they have to have a faster 1st line center & presumably Cristall & Proteas are ready to move up too. And Strome is a good center on a reasonable contract & should net a decent return from a young team with speedy wings who can hide his lack of it.
@gregorian@alpert Stunning amounts of money are wasted at DGS & on myriad public safety programs (violence interrupters) & human services programs so in fact there are real savings to be found but she isn't even talking about saving money on these latter programs.
@gregorian@alpert She has talked about saving money eliminating fraud & inefficiencies (going to competitive paving probably could save 10's of millions) & bringing in $$ with effective fines (DOB really doesn't collect) but in net her #'s dont make any sense & it worries me she doesn't know that.
