The next Louisiana Purchase? Here’s an idea: the United States acquires the Baja California Peninsula from Mexico for $1 to $5 trillion.

Every Mexican citizen living in Baja receives dual U.S.-Mexico citizenship, plus a $50,000 investment account.

Then America gets to work: world-class infrastructure, deep-water ports, desalination, nuclear energy, housing, universities, and industry. Tijuana and Mexicali could become major reindustrialization zones.

In return, the United States gains nearly 1,800 miles of some of the most spectacular coastline on Earth and the chance to build the great new economic region.

Is this a crazy idea? Of course. But so was the Louisiana Purchase in 1803.

The word that was conspicuously absent from President Trump's speech was Covid. Everything that happened in 2020 was connected to Covid in one way or another. Regardless of whether the lab leak was deliberate or accidental, the simple fact is that once the virus escaped, everything from its origins to lockdowns, masks, mail-in voting, and everything else to do with Covid was turned into a political weapon against Trump.

San Francisco is a “suppressed” multi it real estate market— deliberately so because of rent control. If you are lucky enough to get frequent turnover, you get good cash flow. If not, you are screwed.

I remember seeing a 6 unit apartment building in San Francisco sell for 3 mill plus and thinking that was high and now I saw one eclipse the 4 million dollar mark.

Rents go up and prices follow eventually.

You assume 75 is some sort of death sentence for the mind and the body. I am 78 and I can assure you that I am still pretty sharp. From my experience, millions are just like me.

I'm 50. I'll be divesting myself of everything I own when I'm 75 - it all gets offloaded and managed by my sons at that point.
I have seven big reasons for this:
1) I'm watching my nearly 80 yr old father fall for every possible scam because the digital world has become far too sophisticated for him. His phone is his kryptonite. I assume the world will be crazier. My sons will have a better shot at navigating that world.
2) I will be done with my most productive decades and will be downshifting into advisory. I won't 'retire' but the nature of the work will change.
3) Pushing assets down the line increases maximum impact for rising generations. They need the resources for grandchildren: education, tuitions, seed money for start-ups, first homes, we want wives staying home to raise babies.
4) I expect a clean room and meals at one of their homes. I'm more than happy to keep the property spic and span, and add value and drive people as long as they'll let me have keys. The windows will be washed and the flowerbeds will stay mulched.
5) I want to be as integrated into their world as they want me to be, but I will endeavor to not be a nuisance as long as possible. I know we don't control the end game - and everyone is bed-ridden at the very end.
6) Blessings and inheritances are meant to be bestowed at the end of the life, not read by some sod in a suit in a downtown law office.
7) I want my sons to be trained and capable and aware of this arrangement starting now, so we run a plan and don't just stumble our way into the 4th quarter.

Whatever happens at the end, it will be better than watching what I'm watching with this fading generation. My gosh. What buffoonery, waste, and clueless disregard for their generational lines. It's astounding. Draining. Every. Last. Drop.
And no, they didn't NEED THE SECOND SAUNA, it's just nice to have, rather than walk all the way back up to the main house. Makes sense.
